Didn't Roy play wing with Drury and Grier?

That was in 05/06 during the playoffs...Roy/Drury and Roy/Grier 2-on-1's were lethal that post-season. The team also scored like 6 shorthanded goals in that post-season, many thanks to them.

Man you guys have had some really stacked teams to watch over the years, a few bounces here and there and there could be a few Cups already in Buffalo.

Counterattacking was our bread and butter. We got outshot and outfaceoffed nearly every game.

Yea x-pens, 05/06 was only derailed because of injury problems on the defense.

I always say Carolina took 4 AHL defensemen to 7 games, so clearly they were not the better team that round.

I know that.

Who did they lose early in the series though? Wasn't Teppo and Tallinder gone from the start, I know McKee got injured in game 6 or something, and wasn't Fitzpatrick playing from the beginning?

Oh crap yeah I remember that season, I actually watched quit a few Sabres playoff games that year. I think you guys steam rolled the 1st 2 rounds then a TON of injuries in the 3rd vs. the Canes. I was bummed because i DID NOT want to see a sucky SCF.

That summer I really wanted the pens to go after mcKee but he ended up getting like 4 million so it was good they didnt

Kalinin got hurt, didn't he? He was actually playing good hockey during those playoffs if I remember correctly.

Filling in for our defense was Doug Janik (5 games), Jeff Jillson (4 games), and Nathan Peatsch (1 game).

Rory played 11 playoff games with us that year, so he wasn't in right from the start. I think he went in when Tallinder went down.

Well in game one and 2 we had all of our defensemen except 1 then, since Fitzpatrick played 11 games. So basically, it it still took Carolina 7 games to beat a team with half an NHL defense.

So only Loods and Campbell played all the games with the team then. We lost Kalinin in the 2nd round, Teppo in game 1 of the ECF, Mckee in game 6 of the ECF, and Tallinder in game 3 of the ECF.

So in round 3, by game three and four we had 3 NHL defensemen out. That's still a huge testament that the Sabres should have won that series had been completely healthy.

I approve of Vanek's 24 minutes, leading all Sabres, tonight even though he didn't have much to show for it on the scoresheet.

Vanek was getting mugged all night, it's too bad, he had some great chances too.

Too bad he will not have that much time next time. We could have used some goals from him against the Flyers.

What I remember was

That was after the Zubrus trade of course. I can't remember who was in his spot before that, but I know announcers would call the Drury line our "top" line.

looks upside down

in any event, the proof is in the putting

Well he apparently got hurt, so I'll let it slide.

Any linkages for this?

They were wrapping his right middle finger I think on TV, and he sat out Wednesday's practice.

I seen that as well, hopefully he'll be a go for tonight. We sure as hell could have used some goals against the Flyers, but maybe if Ruff was pairing him with something better than he ded, like the sasquatch known as Niedermayer, Vanek would have hit the score sheet.

Edit:
Quote:
he missed practice Wednesday with a hand injury but is expected back.

How did he get hurt, naturally or on purpose?
