No way is Myers going to be sent down. Darcy is just being political in that article, trying to make it sound as though it's such an important decision that he needs to see every game Myers plays in before he makes his ultimate decision. He'd be pissing off a hell of a lot of people if he sent Myers down, including most (if not all) the players.

We're 6-1-1... If it ain't broken...

agreed

I like him so much I might change my username to something referring to Myers. :)

I know for a fact I'm buying his jersey, it's only a matter of when he switches back to 3 that I get it.

When Myers was on WGR last week they asked him about "getting a real number" and he said he was planning on sticking with 57.

Here's a link to that convo..
http://audio.wgr550.com/m/audio/2693551 ... geid=28473

He said they gave him 57 for training camp, he didn't really think about his #, and that he doesn't care what it is.. He says he doesn't think he's gonna change it, but doesn't seem absolutely 100% about it..

Dammit.

I was hoping (as I'm sure Phil was, too) that Myers re-took the #3 he had worn with the Kelowna Rockets.

A classic defensive number. And, unlike on so many other teams, it remains available for use, on the Sabres' roster...

They'll give him the option to change his number when they tell him he won't be sent down.

Aw shit. Why can't he ditch the football number? I was hoping he would, and I'm a little surprised he plans to keep it.

I too want to put my sloppy man love for Myers in this thread. I can't/won't say anything that hasn't been said about the guy already, just that he is definitely much better than I have given him credit for. Heck, even Mr. Don Cherry is taking notice, he had a small segment on how he joins the play ore often than not on Coaches Corner last Saturday.

Might I add its nice to see/hear (because I have to listen to most of the games) that his partner isn't playing badly either.

Ham, might I add....the signature....beautiful!

Tyler is probably looking at how keeping #52 worked for Rivet and he wants some of that!

So no news if Myers will be sent back to Kelowna. It seems so obvious and maybe Darcy just wants the fans to sweat about it.

Myers ain't going nowhere...this coy routine by Lindy and Darcy is only being done in an effort to keep the kid from getting too full of himself and developing bad habits.

...the news of Myers being sent down, at this point (were it to happen) would make me go pretty apeshit.

I might stop watching the Sabres until Regier and/or Quinn and Golisano were gone.

It would be far too insane to comprehend and accept.

Exactly. It's just more bland, generic coach/GM speak. Darcy isn't going to announce anything until it's necessary. What if Myers gets injured next game and Darcy already announced that they're keeping him? "Uh, we uh...actually are sending him back to Kelowna because his development is slow. No really Bettman it's true...nothing to see here guys...". Besides, he's tired of the Buffalo News writers being jack asses with him so he's not going to give them any inside info anyway.

Myers is staying, but there's no need for Darcy to tell anyone yet. I do enjoy the lemming mentality that this subject brings out in people though. It's mildly entertaining.

You are so right.. There is 0% chance he gets sent down..

There are reasons why Darcy hasn't said anything about it yet.. And it has nothing to do with if he plays good against the Devils or not.. They just have to say that they are waiting to see how he plays because that's the only thing they can say.. They aren't gonna say something like "we're gonna keep him up unless he gets injured"..

Number 57 is a big number for a big kid.

You know, if he keeps "57" he's going to suffer all kinds of "ketchup" references...
