As far as I know the cap-hit is the average salary and therefore constant. 40mil over 10 years. 4mil cap hit.

Book it.

Anybody out there still want Darcy gone? I've been saying it for years, he's a great GM....

So does anybody think they will ship someone out now that they've signed Ehrhoff?

If he makes crap the last 2-3 years of the deal it could help persuade him to retire as well. Why beat the crap out of your 36 year old body to make the last $2 million of the $40 million?????

Thanks Darcy and Terry! Great to be a fan right now. Now just get rid of Morrisonn and Kotes, then sign up Brad, and I'll never ask for another thing. Holy shit, still pinching myself.

i think that morrisonn is now more than expendable to this organization, unless he ends up being the veteran on defense in rochester.

Now with all deference to Steve Montador. But Sabres fans...today the NHL headlines read...

Sabres come to terms to Christian Ehrhoff.
Blackhawks come to terms with Steve Montador.

Its a crazy, crazy, topsy-turvey world in Pegulaville.

Maybe it's the fact that their arena is a dump and the team fucking sucks. Oh, and there are plenty of Long Islanders that go to school in Buffalo (unfortunately). If he really wants to feel like he's in Long Island, he can hang out with all them at frat parties and the tanning salon and he won't know the difference.

Year 1: $8M signing bonus, $2M salary; Year 2: $5M SB, $3M sal. That's $18M in 1st 2 yrs, or $15M before puck drops on 12-13

How about Kotalik and a first rounder for Malkin? I bet that would surprise you.

Wow...a lot less per year than I though. 10 years...wow

Ha! Too bad Isles fans...(I'm guessing he was looking more for length rather than amount per year)

I don't like the Ehrhoff - Leopold pair in our own zone. Great blueline duo on offense though.

Myers - Leopold
Ehrhoff - Regehr
Weber - Sekera (Gragnani)

i like grags better than sekera and would like sekera traded, because he does have value. myers isn't all that great defensively yet, and i'd rather see him play with regher. i also like weber with erhoff and grags with leo.

Why do people think this is an incredible deal. The guy is 38 when his contract expires.

because it's front loaded and we took a guy that has 6 years left (on average) down about 2 million a year in cap hit from what he would get tomorrow. we play 4-5 million to buy him out in the last 2-3 years of his contract or so. sweet deal.
