I've made every effort to say this is not what I think...no?

The ONLY thing I'm saying is that despite a first place record, Buffalo is not a first place team. Struggling to score and failing to beat division teams, especially when you have the advantage in rest or injuries, is a sign that you are not a great team. They should be a good, competetive team this season, but not a great team or ultimately a Cup contender.

That said, I thought they'd be a six seed, and anything can happen in the playoffs, so it's not like I'm disappointed.

What does it matter if you lose to division team or any other team in the league?? It's not like were struggling to score..

Because if we can't win against division/confererence then we will lose in the playoffs (if we can even make it). Yes, the defense is better than the last few years but they are still struggling. They are showing the same inconsistent play as in the past. The first several games they would come out hit hard and skate fast. Have short tape to tape passes and shot the friggin puck on the net. No fancy passes that usually never hits the mark. They need to stay with their game plan and things will improve.

Pessimism based on this scenario strongly resembling last years season so far.

Let's hope they find themselves enesday night; I mean hell, the Caps lost to the damn Lady Leafs!!

The problem with our top 6 is we have Drew Stafford, possibly a decent 3rd line player, playing first line minutes, and Tim Connolly no able to find Thomas Vanek at all, Pommers accuracy problems continue and we have Derek Roy turning the puck over, and trying for the "extra" pass instead of keeping his game simple, and firing the puck on net.

I mean, our top 6 has guys that are tying to play beyond their means. Thus far the only guy in the top 6 that has blown me away with his efforts thus far this season is MacArthur.

the air in the balloon is starting to deflate for me....i also can see the same inconsistencies popping up from the last two years....i'm starting to get nervous....like i think we could be out of a playoff spot (point wise) in the next few weeks....
before the season started one of the columnists for the buffalo news wrote that he thought the sabres were at least 2/3 years from being a contender.....
i am starting to agree with him now.....though i think we could be a contender if darcy could pull a few moves....like acquiring a couple of goal scorers....another d-man, and a new back up goalie....that's all...

Tyler Myers - Future captain of the Buffalo Sabres, and future Norris Trophy Winner

Manning the machine gun on the Tyler Myers Bandwagon - just in case any teams have an idea of prying him away from us (3 GM's shot already)

Connolly/Roy - 2 goals in the last 47 playoff games

Add Dumont, Liles and Biron and subtract Hecht, Lalime and Sekera.

It would be nice to see the team win a game without Ryan Miller. We're 0-3 so far without him.

Any backup the team gets isn't going to help much if the team continues to not play in front of anyone but Miller.

:text-yeahthat:

Pretty much says it all about our top six guys. Except one thing: McArthur is a -9, worst on the team.
But, all 6 players are in the negative on the top 2 lines. I have said it all along, a trade needs to happen. They would'nt be in the negative if they kept anything resembling a decent forecheck and offensive zone attack going. Oh yea, it helps to score some goals too.

I am still of the opinion that in order to stay in the top five or six teams in the Eastern Conference we can have one of our top two centers be a (allegedly) highly skilled, soft type center, but not both. I would try to trade Roy or Connolly, and try to pick up a more physical top two line center - easier said than done, but roy and Connolly both can be made ineffective by physical play.

don't want to settle down....remember what happened last year ? this team doesn't have "it"...yeah we are 3rd in the east.....i'm hardly excited about that....in fact i tuned in late to the last 2 games or so.....

again.....now in the 3rd year....darcy needs to something.....

i'm betting that in the next few weeks or so, this team will be out of the playoff race point wise...i hope i'm wrong, but i think this is the way the team is heading

This is the exact thing that happened the last two seasons!!!! It's the same ole shit. This team will never be serious contenders until they learn to play the same game, EVERY GAME!!! If they played the same as they did in October, no one would be complaining. Oh, BTW the sabres have gone from 1st in the division to 3rd and from 3rd in the conference to 8th. In the matter of a few days......

we're in trouble boys and girls......we need some changes in this line up , AND NOW ! just like the last 2 years around this time of the season.....and what did darcy do then ? nothing

i'm not a betting man, but if i was i would be betting that darcy won't pull off any big moves to improve this club in the next month or so....

but don't worry he could always make a corkum deal at the deadline.....
