According to RDS:

That means Lalime will play friday and saturday with Portland to get back in shape. And obviously Enroth will be called up.

I am thoroughly enjoying this plan. Let Lalime remember what it's like to get regular starts without causing the Sabres to lose, before he starts playing more for them.

I'm going to go look, but I'm 99% sure that conditioning assignments do not expose a player to waivers.

You are correct sir. He is allowed a certain time for a conditioning stint, or he would have to be exposed to waivers. Conditioning stints are also contingent on the players approval.

This is strictly a move (once confirmed) to get Lalaime some playing time before he plays some games here. If anything I would take it to mean he is here for the duration of the season thereafter....

No, if that happens we'll just see Miller play 75+ games this season, not including the Olympics.

I didn't realize a conditioning assignment offered protection from waivers when no injury rehab was involved, so this surprises me. Thanks for the update!

Yes, because this situation was swiftly dealt with last year due to his less than stellar performances! ;)

Yeah, you can send a player down to the minors on a conditioning assignment, but only for 14 days, and only if the player approves it.

Teams will be punished if they use the conditioning loan to try and avoid putting a player on waivers, but this seems pretty straightforward.

True, but the urgency to make the playoffs this year is a little bit more prevalent than it was last year. ;)
