Well, the division amongst the fans is abundantly clear, atleast, thats what the posts imply.
In any event, it would appear there is a desparity between those of us that want management to make a move for more offense and those of us who continue to point out the teams defensive play as something to lean on.

Every one I have seen post on wanting more offensive (including myself) already have pointed out we are most happy with the defensive play and down right estatic over Miller's play.
We are only pointing out that we would like to see a trade or 2 to bring in offensive fire power.
Me personally, I don't think loosing 2 of the top 6 and 2 or 4 defenseman along with picks/prospects is going to affect this team defensively. Lydman, Paetsch, Butler would be the Dmen I would target for tradable in a package deal. These guys haven't played a full season, any one of them and it is clear the defense is still stellar. I think Weber and/or Gragnani are ready to come up and the defense would perform just as well.
As for the top 6, you take any 2 of them out as tradable commodities and it doesn't affect our defensive style. The talent you bring in should spend more time in the offensive zone on the attack, further elevating the defensive play. A good offense is a great defense.
But once again, I think we are just trying to bring ideas forward that may increase scoring. This is never a bad thing.

Oh, I am in no way against a couple of big trades to bring in some upgrades. I just think that right now, the GA numbers are pretty stellar and until Darcy makes a move (if he makes one), we should be happy we're winning.

Let's save the bitching until we start to tail-spin :D

We have an abundance of defensemen, so I wouldn't mind seeing some kind of package deal to bring in offensive help. That being said, you don't want to scrape the cupboard bare, either. Ship out some of our defense and bring the younguns up, sure, but what if you then have a couple more go down with injury? It's a viable avenue, but don't take it too far.

Very true Ham, thats why I always point to 2 as the magic number. Getting rid of 2 still leaves us comfortable depth. 4 overall though, 2 Dmen, 2 top sixers. With picks we could bring in a very good scorer and bring up Gerbe/Ennis as the compliment. Many avenues to take here.

Trade Lydman, Stafford and a pick/prospect for a goal-scorer. Problem solved. We win Cup. Everyone be happy.

I, and alot of the fans who want a little more upfront are very happy with the team record. But Phil, I'm a greedy f**ker :D . I want that cup, I have waited all 39 years to see it in Buffalo. This team is ready, Miller is the man, The defense is stellar and even with 2 gone in a trade still has depth. The bottom 6 are doing thier job and the job of the top 6 at this time, they have performed above and beyond what was expected of them.

I want them all to have the help they'll need to push for the cup, this could be the year and if we secure talent that stays a few years Buffalo could become the team that every other team has to rekon with. ;)

But ya, I am very happy with their record to date. :D

I'd buy you a drink after that soliloquy...just one hard-working talent-laden top-six forward and it's a whole new ballgame.

A problem with a trade is that the expendable d-men are pending FAs and nobody wants those as trade bait. Our young d-men will be needed to fill the holes left by Lydman and Tallinder. Sekera or maybe Gragnani are the only ones I would trade, but we're probably looking at Rivet, Butler, Myers, Montador, and Sekera as the returning d-men. Weber will have to step up, but I expect an FA signing to fill a gap...I hope Seidenberg or Leopold. I know neither are huge improvements, but there aren't many big name FA d-men available this summer and both those guys bring some PP experience at the point.

I just don't see Darcy having many options before some salary gets dumped in the summer. Mair, Tallinder, Lydman, and Paetsch will be gone for sure and shed 7 mil from the cap hit. The only place big dollars would be needed to replace any of those spots is for one d-man. Kennedy, Kaleta, and Mac will see a slight raise, so count on about 3 mil to play with for anything extra...just don't expect it.
