Connolly certainly wasn't 100%, and his line was all messed up without Hecht. Connolly was paired with Pominville and Ennis most of the time, making them a very outmatched line against a physical team. He had a garbage playoff regardless, but saying that he's an epic playoff failure is total exaggeration. The 2007 playoffs were his first games after returning from the head/neck injury. Should he be traded? Maybe, but only if the center position is actually upgraded. Roy, Pominville, Stafford, and Gaustad all had a disappointing series. The entire team struggled to produce with two top players out and a patch-work power play.
Unless Kennedy and Ennis can beef up and learn fast, Connolly and Roy are the two top centers, like it or not. Getting rid of them better have an upgrade in mind, and no matter how promising two rookies are, they are not the answer right now.
