Fly, Mair will be gone no matter what. I've always liked him, but both Ellis and McCormick are younger and cheaper replacements. All three are pending UFAs, but I suspect Ellis and McCormick will both stay.

Don`t sign him for two years, sign him long term more like 10 years ;)

I'd rather have Mair over Ellis. I used to see what Ellis brought to this team, but this year I never heard a thing about his high motor or his effort. There was never a play I saw where I was thinking "Wow! He's outworking everyone right now!" He was refreshing a year ago, but now it's old. McCormick has plenty of experience in the NHL, and he's cheaper.

If we could sign Mair to a vet minimum, I'd be all for him coming back.

He signed a 1 year, $1.2M deal this year. You could pay him $2M per for the next 2 years and I'd be totally ok with it.

I'd start at 1.75; we'd all be liars if we didn't think the Sabres need to save money where they can so we can afford to ship dead weight.

That was my guess (and hope) as well.

Wow..you and I saw completely different games this year apparently. Dude hustled every damned second he was on the ice, very often making me think "Wow, he's outworking everyone!" I agree he isnt the MOST skilled guy ever, but he works hard ALWAYS, has good puck control, can keep the puck on his stick while pressured, is good on the boards, slings the puck at the net well (and it popped in more often than i'd have expected) and is not a defensive liability. I'd keep him over: Stafford, Mair, ....and I guess thats it. So i'd send him packing third, not first.

There better be some mother-EFFking talks, that guy deserves a new deal. With the money we save by tossing Stafford on some team.

I hope we resign him, he was a huge veteran presence to this team.

I love Grier and am so glad we got him back this past year...so I sincerely hope we are able to resign him.

I'm also ecstatic that Montador will be here for at least another year...he was an absolute BEAST in the series against Boston...hands-down our best defenseman in the playoffs. He played with the tenacity and heart rarely seen in any of our other players.

I thought he only signed a one-year deal?

Yes!! 2 years is perfect, if he's still got some left in the tank after that sign him to whatever works and he can retire a sabre

Monty is here for one more year, he signed a 2 year deal, Grier only signed a one year deal.

Who was it that said last offseason that they would shovel Mike Grier's driveway if he came back to Buffalo?
