In 2006, we had the opportunity to tie Carolina 3-3 on the power play late in game 7.
No luck.
In 2007, Ottawa dominated us in special teams, easily bouncing us from the conference finals 4 games to 1.
Now, in 2010, our first trip back to the playoffs since those two season, we were bounced by Boston because of our sudden inability to kill a penalty, and our pathetic excuse for a power play.
Anyone else sick of losing playoff series because of special teams?
Goal totals from this playoff series: Boston 16, Buffalo 15.
Power Play goals: Boston 6, Buffalo 0.
Had those roles been reversed, the totals would read: Boston 10, Buffalo 21.
Which team would have won the series then?
It's about time this organization brings in an assistant coach who can teach this team to play opportunistic, because that's what the playoffs are all about.
Say what you want about how Buffalo played against Boston in this series, but as you can see, if the special teams battle was flip flopped, we'd be talking about Buffalo and Montreal playing each other in round two.
Wow, I do not like the musical stylings of the band Phish and all others like them, but I cannot disagree with you. Those numbers speak loudly. I think Lindy Ruff should rethink his coaching staff. It's obvious that Sabres management and ownership think that Lindy Ruff is the man, but it's Lindy Ruff who should take the lead in looking for assistant coaches. If he doesn't feel that they need a change and that it's more a matter of player personal then okay. But I don't know how he or anybody else could come to that conclusion.
Off topic but...
I guarantee there are at least 2 Phish songs that you'd like.
No matter what style of music someone's into, chances are, Phish has a song that reflects it.
THAT'S why I think they're so awesome.
As far as hockey goes, it makes sense that our penalty kill is awesome and that our power play sucks. Lindy was a defenseman. He doesn't have the vision needed to map out lanes and movements that create opportunities on the power play.
That's why it has been left up to his assistants. And they're not getting the job done.
One day I was sitting at home relaxing, thought maybe I would turn on the TV and flip around for something nice to watch. Genesis was being inducted into the RRhoF, I thought that might be interesting. I tuned in and at first I thought there was an autistic band playing. It was so out of key, lame, and so not rock and roll. I felt my ears dry heave with disgust. I shut off the TV, turned on Raining Blood by Slayer, crawled up the stairs, curled up in the shower with the water washing over me and I wept. Good sir I wept. Late I found out who it was, and I have avoided them like the plague. But they aren't the only ones playing music like that! At this art gallery I went to see my buddies band play. They were fine, Dylan covers and a lot of original stuff. Good old acoustic rock with an electric mandolin thrown in for good measure. But they were the opening act, the house band was "Sna-Fu". Great name, so I thought I would stick around. Soon I was searching for the exit.
I don't get it, I know people THINK it's good but not me. And I get everything.
To each his own, I suppose.
One of the most interesting things about music is that many people fail to realize that we all listen to music for different reasons, and that's why different styles appeal to different people.
I'm lifted by harmonics, wild rhythms, clean lead guitar, and abstract sounds.
Put Slayer on the stereo for 20 seconds, and my ears will bleed. It's like, listening to a high school garage band fuck around with their amps turned all the way up.
Grunge, dirty, raunchy sound doesn't appeal to me, because I don't like listening to music that makes me want to put my head through a wall.
My guess is that when you listen to metal, you like the adrenaline rush, the tight and even rhythms, and screaming distortion.
Again, to each his own.
Trey... he'll never win any awards for his vocals, but you'd be hard pressed to find a more talented guitarist currently touring.
