Buffalonians are aware that it isn't the most beautiful place in the world, my friend.

What gets them irritated, is when they're judged by that exterior without anyone taking notice of what a wonderful community they are.

TV gets that.

I see, I only passed through Buffalo for a flight, and it was at night so I've never really seen the skyline or anything. I suppose I coule brave the internet for some photos, but I'm actually scared of what I may see. Afterall, you guys yinz are only ranked the 10th most livable city in America. :snooty: ;)

Fixed that for ya ;)

Excellent use of Pittsburghese! You might actually blend into a NUMBER SEVEN ranked environment. lol

Buffalo has its charm that you grow to love...some of the areas are far from being pleasing to the eye, but you can't beat the fantastic and unique architecture the city has. I love when you're driving down Main St towards downtown the view you get of all the different buildings.

Caroline, I LOVE that view. Seeing the theater district right before your eyes and HSBC Tower in the distance with all the hotels and financial district buildings in front of you...beautiful view.

Yes, I love that view. It's weird that that's the tallest building in Buffalo too...

Ugly as they may be, there's nothing better than the sight of cranes going to work in a city.

thats the new UICA building on the right, and 38 commerce on the left. UICA is 12 stories, 200 feet tall, 38 commerce is 8 stories, 110 feet tall, i think. both mixed use buildings. neither picture shows medical mile though.

I don't know what the interview in the original exactly said, but I know what Thomas told the media in Graz and it went like this: "Most NHL-players only know the city from driving down highway 33 from the airport to the Arena..."

As I know from my own experience (been to Buffalo twice in the last 2 years) that's really not the most complimenting view. the suburbs on the other hand are really quite nice. and I just LOVE Walden Galleria and some of the other great malls ;)

greetings from Austria

If you'll be coming back this upcoming season, let us know! Members would love to show you to the nicer places in the city, for sure :)

I love Western NY. If the job market was better, I think we would move back there in a second. I grew up in East Aurora and love that town. Every time I come home to visit (every year or every other year) I get reminded why that place is so special. The people are nicer, drive better, better educated, the environment is nicer to look at. Other than the taxes, the place rocks.

I see why players sometimes come back and live in the Buffalo area after they retire. Great place to raise the young ones.

im assuming that you havent been in hazelwood lately then if you are so quick to judge

also, ive passed through the city of buffalo and the rest of Erie county a decent amount, and just something about it is calling me and attracting me to the city, and is calling me home

There is so much right with this post. :D

The Mrs' and I have been down to Buffalo all the way from Nova Scotia a few times and every time we go it feels more and more like home. If it wasn't hard as a mofo to get work papers to move down there and if the job market was a little more plentiful, I'd dare to say we'd be moving there in a heartbeat. Maybe the Canadian side of Niagara after we tie the knot? One can dream...

Damn fly, that's an awesome shot of DT! MM & I covered that area the day after the Dallas game this past march! Perfect day to go wandering down town Buffalo!

And Werpudel, Phil is a man who speaks the truth! He and Missy took us under their wing on our 2nd trip down to show us some of the awesomeness that is Buffalo! Maybe you can experience a Widow Maker ;)

Take it up with Vanek, not a single pro athlete has ever called Pittsburgh anything unflattering in an interview.

I lived in Buffalo for 3 years and I still think it's a shit-hole. Just my opinion, however.
