Does dyslexia cause people to randomly and arbitrarily eliminate or add letters to words?

i know you are probably implying that the answer is no, but it's a yes.

Well I stand corrected. But there can't be that many dyslexic Sabres fans (actual dyslexic persons, my sympathies).

I'm gonna call bullshit. I do keyboard dyslexia all the time, but proofreading eliminates that. Lack of proofreading=/>poor spelling.

Well if a person can't read because of dyslexia, that proofreading goes right out the window.

No....but beer does.

I do not understand English right now.

I know that many people misspell names of Sabres players, but that doesn't really require a GTFO or drop your fancard status. It's a message board and not a literary board, if you really want to be that anal about spelling then please by all means PM these individuals but don't resort to what the OP has said...

my thought is, if society is gonna attribute every child that can't focus to ADD or ADHD or what have you, we might as well attribute every poor speller to dyslexia. i don't think there's anything out there that says dyslexia is a black or white condition, so i'm accustomed to believe there's a grey area with tweeners who can't spell worth shit but still get by.

for example i know a guy with a 92 average in university engineering (canadian university) and he still thought ghost = goash. ...yeah. and he was spelling it out loud, it wasn't a typo.

It's taken me years to become an acceptable speller, mostly through reading. So in defense of anyone misspelling players' names, I'm going to say names are probably the hardest things to spell because you see them less frequently than other words. I know I often end up spelling Pominville as Pomminville for example. however I have watched more than 95% of his NHL games, so I think it would be a stretch to say I'm not a "real" Sabres fan.

it is, it's a brain malfunction. just like REAL add and adhd is a condition in which some neurotransmitters don't move at the appropriate speed. that's why when diagnosed the people who have the add or adhd get stimulants. i should know, i have it.
