Well ksquier89, I wasn't going to guess at other moves. If Roy stays and with Hodgson, there's a good chance Ennis goes back to wing. Maybe it goes Roy, Ennis, Hodgson, Gaustad then Adam down the middle. Who knows? Either way they're in good shape if Gaustad returns, and especially if they draft a top C.

IMO a lot of his value is being in the elite realm of face-off men....that's not going to go away any time soon.
No one is looking for him to score 20 goals.

Good luck in Nashville Goose. I hope you are back in the fold this FA season.

Win a cup and bring that experience back home!

That's probably the last thing you'd want to see happen if there's a chance of getting him back here. If Nashville wins the cup or makes the finals, and Goose plays well, his value as an UFA rises meteroically, then no way he's coming back.

The best scenario for getting him back will be if the Preds flame out early.

Goose will get a contract similar to Hanzal. GM's even have to use something to gauge offers by. Somewhere around $3 million and 4-5 years. Nashville winning the cup may garner more interest in him, but that won't jack it up to anything ridiculous I don't think.

Maybe so, but there will be more competition for his services and he is less likely to view a marginally competitive Buffalo team as favorably after getting a taste of serious cup fever.

Depends on how rooted he is in Buffalo. There are quite a few people who will take a "good" payday to stay somewhere that they are happy. Does he have a wife, kids in local schools? Does he look like he's got a job lined up in Buffalo post-hockey? Not everyone is out for as much money as they can get their hands on, at the cost of all other factors.

Looks like he was keeping Millsie warm on these not so cold WNY nights.

Aw lighten up. They're friends, and that may draw him back.

He's married, but his wife is from Oregon. I met his father-in-law once in a restaurant when I was wearing a Sabres jersey. He still lives here.

Just to cover my ass here, it might have been the father of his girlfriend, not his wife, that I met. It was a few years ago. But I know the guy basically looked at Paul as part of his family.

The guys seemed pretty busted up that he left. I hope it's not just wishful thinking but I hope that puts a bit more weight behind the speculation that he may be back in blue and gold come July. I know he hasn't been producing but if we can get him cheaper come Summer I would absolutely love to see him back here. I think he's a great leader and a great personality to have in the dressing room.

Que??? Other than Drury who really shit the bed I haven't seen many not do well. Matter of fact they seem to thrive on other teams.

I would absolutely love to see them resign the goose.

Really?

The only one who has remotely "thrived" has been Briere.

Not necessarily. He'd be worth signing if he proved his abilities in the playoffs, even if it came at a higher price.

Who would want him back here if he had a poor performance in the playoffs?

Yup. Not only that, but the 1st rounder we got for Goose is a later pick if the Preds win a series (or more). I like the Preds and would normally root for them, but let's hope they lose their first series and make that pick they gave us as high as possible.

Toni Lydman, Daniel Paille, Steve Montador to name a few. Toni was a +32 last season when he was just a +10 in his final year as a sabre. I'd say it's a wash. Some have done well, others have flamed out. Who knows what will happen with Gaustad
