I just found out that Ott makes 3.2mill and Pardy 2mill a year.
Now I hate the deal. We overpaid and took on salary.

Seeing as Pardy=Shaone Morrisonn, he is probably going to the AHL, so we kind of gained cap space.

Seriously, it's a miracle we got anything for Derek Roy. I never subscribed to the theory of Roy not having any value, but if he did have value, he would have been traded a year ago, or at the trade deadline.

I agree with toothpick. Roy's coming into a CONTRACT YEAR. He'll play well, because he wants to get a raise from that 4 mill he's been stuck on for 6 years. I say you need a better deal than this one, or else you need to go get yourself another offensive center. The fact that they took on salary handcuffs them there unless of course they trade Pardy. I think it's a dumb move and Roy scores 70 points this year.

One thing that I will say is that Roy was a very good scoring player in years' past, and his best statistical season came the year after Briere and Drury left (81 points in 78 games).

I also wish Regier could've waited and perhaps gotten a better return. I thought the trade deadline would be ideal, after Roy had put up some better numbers. Ott is not just a pest though. He is primarily a LW but takes a ton of draws and is 55%. He also is in the league leaders in hits, and will fight too. He plays hard and is hard to play against. All this stuff should pay off for the rest of the team.

Be patient, Ott is not a solution for center, so there will be another move yet to fill Roy's spot.

Glad Roy is gone but Ott is a dirty piece of shit who can barely score 40 points a year and Pardy sucks ass.

I don't understand these fans saying we lost this trade or Ott is going to put up numbers like Roy. Let's face it folks not many teams want a 5'9" center that takes a ton of stupid penalties and passes up scoring chances instead of shooting. I use to like Roy but when Roy went down the team actually played better. Then u throw in the Lucic incident last year and this core group with the rest of the team were a bunch of pansies. Ott is a player that is a hitter, good face off man and he can chip in 35-40 points a year, plus he will go to war for his teammates. Who on last years squad was going to do tha? U can't have a team filled with too many undersized players just because they are skilled. Plus with Montreal loading up with size and grinders u have to do something.

So Steve Ott is basically a Gaustad. Gotcha.

Really, Paul Gaustad chips in about 40 points a year AND over 250 hits? In what universe? Ott is not Paul Gaustad. This year they make within $500K of each other...whcih would you rather pay? No one's really afraid to rile Paul Gaustad.

Ott scores maybe 5-10 points more a year than Gaustad. Ott averages around 35 and Goose around 25-30. He's a 3rd liner like Gaustad. Just an improvement. That's it.

From Otter's twitter:

"Getting asked alot. I'm excited to wear no. "9" my minor hockey number and I thought it would be easy for Blo fans to replace the name bar."

Good Guy Steve Ott.

Bah hah ha! Could there be a bigger difference between Roy "9" and Ott "9"? Let's see that #9 hitting a few bodies next season!

Its going to be sooooo much different seeing the '9' actually hitting and fighting and hustling during play along the boards. Certainly is going to take a bit to get adjusted to seeing it
