Gerbe can be a pest but is prone for retaliation calls. He also can't hit an open net from 15 feet away. I haven't liked Gerbe game at all this season. I do like Ennis

Kassian was a hefty price to pay. Too hefty. In a couple of years he's going to be a beast, and better than Hodgson.

This is a very strong claim. HF has Hodgson rated a 'B', and Kassian a 'C'. While they are consecutive letters in the alphabet and close in that respect, it's hard to get a B unless you have very strong potential. C means the player comes with a lot more risk. Truth be told, nobody knows how this will end up, but the deal would not have gone through unless both GM's got exactly what they wanted. The NHL is currently in a trend towards middleweights, and that could be a big factor in determining who wins this trade. It's not like the league is going to let 2 or 3 bullies beat up everyone else without restriction, and it doesn't appear their solution is going to be, "dress an enforcer if you don't like it".

I disagree with you about Gerbe DC. I think he has loads of pure talent. He might not be a 20+ goal scorer on a 3rd line, but I love all the attributes he brings to the 3rd line. For the record, until this season I wasn't big on NG, but his speed, quickness, and toughness have hit a soft spot with me.

20+ goals, easy now.... I'd be happy with double digits at this point. He's has some skill but scoring seems to not be one of them. I do like his pain in the ass attitude but it's been getting him in trouble. He needs to learn to let it go sometimes. I guess we will agree to disagree on this one.

All the WGR guys are watching the Vancouver game tonight. Chris Parker just posted this shocking tweet: "Bissonette tries to goad Kassian into a fight for 2nd time tonight and here's a shock, Kassian doesn't want it."

Now they get another smaller, not so intimidating center who can score but will get man handled like, Roy, Gerbe, Ennis. Might as well trade for Gionta too

Hodgson is built like a brick shit house. I'd love to know where you get any of your info, so I can stay away from there. I can't vouch for seeing him too much, but the VAN fans say his ability to come out of the boards with the puck is uncanny. As far as the guys you listed being weak and getting manhandled, I only see one, and Hodgson and one good draft pick makes him expendable.

If Gionta becomes available, I'm all in. He's an amazing hockey player. I can only guess what your team looked like in NES ice hockey. I think when the Xanax starts kicking in, you'll be ok.

Um, I have see all three (especially Roy and Gerbe) get manhandled several times this year or cough up the puck as they tried to finesse their way into the zone. Maybe i'm just imagining it during my panic attacks. You really don't understand the whole Gionta thing, do ya?

I'm not hating on Hodgson, I haven't really seen him play. I'm willing to give him time to prove that he's worth all the hype since most people here make him out to be some phenom that was held back with the nucks. If he is then Darcy will go down in NHL history with working the deal of a century.

I'm not making him out to be a phenom. I felt I had to defend him because you were originally saying that this trade was shit.

Where did you get that I think he's shit??? Please quote me when you find it because I would love to see it. Others here are making it out like this kid is some underestimated goal scorer who is going to swoop in and save the day. I'm just arguing that I really don't like losing Kassian because WE ALL BITCHED ABOUT THIS TEAM AND THE LACK OF TOUGHNESS....EVERYONE. Now people are saying that toughness is not all that...Whatever. Don't bitch when another one of our players gets flattened.

Darcy did what I asked, he did something.

I said "you thought the trade was shit" which you did or we wouldn't have had all of these arguments. I never accused you of calling Hodgson shit. Read the post.

Ok, I missed the word trade. I'm sorry about that. I'm not happy that we traded Kassian, true. I think we lost alot with trading him and Gaustad. If this kid works out, cool, but I'm not gonna jump for joy until he proves that he can play on the Sabres.

I think we will be fine. Goose will probably be back this summer (hopefully at a good price), we have 2 firsts and 2 seconds. Darcy should be able to do something with those picks, whether drafting or moving them for proven players.

If anything, it seems these trades have kind of inspired the team a bit. Players know they got to step up and fill different roles. Leino took Gooses center spot on that third line between Kaleta and Gerbe and I think he has had some of his best games as a Sabre there. Miller is on fire now, the PK has still been pretty strong with new guys filling the role, and it seems guys like Weber and others are helping protect Miller in net. I'm happy with how things are going so far.

Miller is the biggest reason why the are winning. Some would argue that he is the only reason why they are still in it. If he played like the majority of the season they would still be doing the best to stay out of the basement. I'm still waiting for this new kid to actually score. He's getting into good situations, just not burying them.

The is still not much scoring going on with this team
