NY Times are reporting Pegula will be at the meeting:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/06/sport ... .html?_r=1

Quote:
The Buffalo Sabres could also be up for sale by the Rochester businessman Tom Golisano. The prospective buyer is Terry Pegula, a natural-gas drilling executive from western Pennsylvania who has lived in suburban Buffalo and whose wife is from Rochester. He donated $88 million to Penn State to build an arena and begin an N.C.A.A. Division I hockey program.

Pegula and Hulsizer are expected to appear before the governors.

I've been watching Google updates for Pegula all day, and after I posted the NY Times article here, I watched it go to Phils blog, and then blow up.

WGR just posted it on their web page.

I'm disappointed in WGR.

WGR Headline : NY Times Report: Pegula to Attend NHL Board of Governor Meetings

NY Times Article : Pegula and Hulsizer are expected to appear before the governors.

It's not confirmed that he's going to be there.

It could be that WGR has another off the record source that confirms it.

However, they do use the term "expected" in the paragraph below the headline.

At the very least, it says the sales of the Sabres and Coyotes are definitely on the agenda.

Oh, I missed that there is a new potential buyer for the Yotes. Busy times for hockey journalists.

Hulsizer has been the prospective buyer for months now.

Right, they say one thing in the headline, and another in the article. I don't like that.

The NYT article also does not confirm that the sale of the Sabres is on the agenda. It talks about the possibility of a sale, and that Pegula is expected to be there.

There's nothing new in this story that we didn't hear last week. Nothing confirmed, only speculation. I'm not suggesting that there isn't truth to all this, just saying that there's nothing new in the reporting that hasn't already been said.

The potential sale of at least three teams and the increasing disparity in value between rich and poor franchises stand atop a busy agenda for the N.H.L. board of governors meeting Monday and Tuesday in Palm Beach, Fla.

I take that as a statement that says the potential sale will definitely be discussed.

That's because you're reading into it to make it fit what you want to believe.

The article does not tell us that the sale of the Buffalo Sabres IS on the agenda.

It tells is that the POSSIBLE sale of the Buffalo Sabres MAY be on the agenda.

Hulsizer just got done addressing the BOG. He says he knows he won't be making money and he's prepared to take the losses, but he's buying anyways and his first step as an owner is to install a new president. He's said GM Don Maloney is staying put.

Could Pegula be up next?

OK, so the executive meeting today is done...the executive committee session is up next. Four options: Pegula speaks tomorrow, Pegula addesses the executives at the committee session, Pegula addresses the committee session tomorrow, or Pegula isn't there.

But why would the NHL BOG expect him to be in attendance if he isn't gonna be?

No NHL official has ever said that they expected him to be there. It was simply media reports that assumed he would be.
