I'm not as thrilled with Kennedy as most seem to be and I don't think Gerbe is the answer either.
We were all impressed with Montador in the beginning and now - FTW? Same for Rivet?
Shakira? I have no clue.
Pommers? Practice hitting a target please. This is getting old.
Roy? I think he tries. I really do.

I'm gonna go on a tear if I don't stop now so I'll stop ;)

I'm not impressed by Kennedy either but I will give him the benefit of the doubt because he's a rookie. He's a third or 4th liner at best. Gerbe is in the same boat. He's too small but I like that he tries to throw the body. But it's still early to write him off.
Montador I wasn't really a big fan of the signing because he's a 6th or 7th defenseman at best. He was mainly signed because of his grit and because he's cheap.
Sekera. I like him and I think they need to play him more. The guys young he still needs to develop his game.
Pominville- I know alot of people get down on him but for the most part he plays a decent two way game. He might not be able to hit the target as much as we like but he at least shoots the puck. Most of the time in the dead center of the goalie's chest.
Roy- I don't know what's up with this guy. He needs to shoot more and he looks uninspired at times.

anyone who isnt at least slightly concerned as to what is happening is a braver man then i. anyone ready to man the life boats and abandon ship is a wiener. i think im going to take shelter on the deck and see if she takes on any more water.

a slump? yes. wernt the sabres first in the NHL on january 1st, 1999, and slipped all the way down to 7th in the east? the sabres ALWAYS slump in january/february. its a law, like water and dinosaurs.

so, im concerned, and i dont think this team has "IT" but ill wait it out and see what else comes up in the next 25 games.

The Sabres are slumping and their's no doubt about it. Miller looks like the goalie we seen the last two years and isn't playing as good as he was at the beginning of the season. Do I blame him for this slump just alittle. But the main issue is the team looks uninspired in front of him the last 15 games. My concern is that the games they won they are getting outshot and not working as hard and it's finally catching up with them. You can't expect the goalie to bail you out all the time. I still think Darcy needs to wake up and make a move. Even if it's a minor move. A fresh face is needed to help this team out.

Oh I'm concerned, I just think the issues are relegated to a few pieces rather than the team, or its philosophy as a whole. You know, the same pieces we've been harping on all year. It's just that before they weren't costing us games, and now they are.

Frustration and concern are two words that come to mind. I'm not about to abandon ship, if anything, I'll be going down with it if she starts to sink big time. That doesn't mean though, we as fans are supposed to accept the way they are playing as of late. Understand it? Sure, but accept it? IMO I don't think so. It's we the faithful who purchase the gear, fill the seats at HSBC arena, head out for road trips to watch them play etc.. so we should demand a better product.

Now, I understand AND accept that we can't win every game. It's just not humanly/physically possible. Not even the teams who were recently on 12-13 game winning streaks can pull that one off. So I get that we will lose some games from time to time. A good point is we are still tops in the division. Regardless of the fact that we owe the Leafs a big thank you for last night, point remains we're still at the top. We can't, however, rely on other teams to do our dirty work for us.

Looking at last night VS a few games ago, to me it showed that some are now getting the idea they need to step up and look out for each other. EG: Stafford (WTF?...of all people) But we still need others to be ready to come to the aid of teammates. Maybe Lindy needs to sit them down and show them the Ottawa game with the Neil/Drury hit to show them what that means. As for goal scoring, well, we're getting to the net, just either not getting the bounces or good enough 2nd efforts at potting those lose pucks in. One reason could be though, other teams know we have guys who are very dangerous around the net and provide extra coverage on them, eliminating any possible chance for a rebound. I dunno, I'm trying to look at some positives here I guess.

Also, it may not be a case of us playing really bad, but maybe we're just running into teams who are turning things around like Columbus and playing good hockey. I agree, the Penguins game (Although I wished for a better outcome) had some really good hockey in it. But when we face the teams which are playing better or gaining speed, we need to play all the more equal or just that much better to hold our ground.

This post is likely a little all over the place. I'm just trying to sift through the carnage of the last 4-5 games and make sense of it all. In a couple days, we'll face the Bruins. Which as of last night, have the worse losing streak the team has ever faced in its history. We should be able to take advantage of this.

At least, I hope we will...

I just watched the Pens/ Caps game. A game where 2 very good goalies let in 4 goals a piece. Personally, that puts Lalime in a different perspective with me. Other than the one goal that was possessed, as far as I am concerned, in my book, he did A-ok.

I suppose we do have to keep in mind that the goalies today played against two great scoring teams (Washington # 1 / Pittsburgh # 3), and Lalime allowed 4 against # 18 Columbus. :P

I'd be pretty impressed if Lalime managed to win that game with our offense coming to a grand total of zero goals.

Lalime was very good when he just came back from his conditioning stint in Portland. And that lasted only a few weeks and now he's back to normal. Do I blame Lalime when he's in net? Tough to say because the team seems to give him hardly any support and seems to gives him lacklluster efforts.

That sounds reasonable in terms of a minor move. Just to shake things up a bit so guys don't get too comfortable.

On paper, Lalime's game in C'Bus was a lot worse then when you break down the goals themselves.

The 1st goal was a bad bounce.

The next 3 goals were all one timers that are extremely hard to stop. It's not like they were straight on bad angle shots like say a goal or two that Miller gave up against the Sens.

Oh yeah, the fact that the Sabres were shut out makes me not want to even worry about Lalime against C'Bus.

The Sabres need to score some freaking goals already!

Well Jim Bob, hasn't the theme of scoring more goals reared its ugly head most of the season? I am not sure why they are slumping at this time, could be the schedule, could be a lack of confidence. What scares me is when Darcy makes the statement that the help needed will be found from within the organization. Does this mean we'll see a Mancari, Gerbe, Ennis/Kennedy line? Only the shadow (formerly known as Darcy Reiger) knows, I guess.

Regardless of what Regier says publicly, my guess is that he will make a tweak or two before the deadline.

Personally, I hope that he pushes to make a deal or two prior to the Olympic roster freeze date so that the new guys can get to Buffalo and get into the Sabres system during the break.

Regier won't make a huge move, but I would be stunned if all he did was call a guy up from Portland.

I'm actually hoping that Ennis or Gerbe or both of them get called up and Darcy prompts Lindy to bench a couple of regulars.

I want a player or two that can grow a manly playoff beard.
