He was also signed during a time when all players were getting ridiculous contracts. It was still the year of signing anyone who had 80 points to a 7 million dollar contract.
If Pominville would be getting signed now to a deal, it wouldn't be as much 4 at the most, even after his two very productive seasons.
in 07 players salaries inflated greatly, Gaborik signed for 7 million last year, had he signed a deal in 07 FA he would have easily signed for 9 million, or 8 million like he did anyways.
