The waiver period begins 12 days before the start of the regular season. They could assign McCormick to Portland to start the year, but he would be exposed to re-entry waivers if recalled later.
They're not going to do that. They'll start the season with a roster that keeps as much salary in the AHL as possible, and with as few waiver eligible players as possible. You'll have:
Forwards (13)
Vanek
Pommers
TC
Roy
Ze German
Goose
Hellen Keller
His Holiness
Nieds
Kaleta
Ennis
Gerbe
McCormick
Defense (7)
Grampa Rivet
Leopold
Morrisson
Montador
The Franchise
Shakira
Butler
Goalies (2)
Miller
LaLaLaLaLa....Oh wait.
There's your 22 man roster, what Darcy said they were trying to run with. Ennis / Gerbe still waiver exempt, and can get moved down freely. Weber / Grags are your first 2 defensive callups, Ada, / Tropp your first two forwards up.
This is my first time looking at this forum and i was struggling to figure out who you meant by His Holiness and Helen Keller, and by process of elimination it turns out the two are Stafford and Grier. So obviously Stafford is Hellen Keller, and then Grier is His Holiness. Not sure why Grier got such a good nickname, prolly cuz he blocked a shot with his face in the Boston series. But anyways, you got the roster dead on. Gragnani isnt getting his shot this year because hes on a two way contract, so its back to Portland for another year. And since Weber signed his qualifying offer, i would bet that its a two way deal as well so im guessing he'll be down in Portland too. But, I wouldnt be suprised to see either or make a huge push for a spot out of camp since they could easily bumb Butler out of his spot as the healthy scratch D-Man since i believe he too is on a two way contract since hes still on his rookie contract.
Honestly I hate to admit it but its all about the money with this team. I wish Tommy G would just bump up ticket prices a bit so he could raise the teams budget.
