one of the best games i've ever gone to. our boys looked great for the most part, and it was nice seeing them more than keep up with one of the best teams in the league. i wanted to personally knee raffi in the nuts when he hit myers. ugh that one hurt just seeing it. i also probably didn't sit for all for 4 + minutes of overtime. just ridiculous.

best part of the game, though was getting told by a canucks fan that i'd be even more beautiful wearing a pink and white vancouver jersey. had to let him know that pink&white is for pussies, and i'll stick with my blue and gold gear, instead.

An opinion piece, not bad for the authors first go at writing. ;)

Except he wants to 'bare witness' instead of 'bear witness'. :)

EDIT: If you couldn't tell, I hate that site with a passion.

I think bare is right...isnt it?

No, it's not in this usage.

This statement doesn't sit well with me at all. Did you watch the same game as me? That was a fucking HOCKEY. GAME. I mean, to me, the only thing that would have made it any more complete would have been a fight or two.

Dear god...I'm STILL all jacked up about last nights game. That overtime was SOOOOO freaking intense, either team could have scored at any point, the fact that Myers showed so much poise and smarts with the GWG was great to see.

Our defense was freaking INSANE last night, only giving them shots from the outside, collapsing on forwards perfectly, getting the puck out of the zone quickly. I have to wonder if they've finally started to find their chemistry, or if they're only 'getting up' for these games against the elite teams because they know it's going to be tough. I just hope they continue it. god DAMN that was a great game to watch!

As asked for, my reasoning for your review.

They blew a 3 to 1 lead late in the game, not great.
Hecht, Connolly, Pomminville line (or scoring line 2 as I like to call it) non-existent, not great.
Lapses on the PK, Buffalo was lucky the score was only 3 goals by Vancouver, not great.
Myers boneheaded retaliation penalty (crosschecking on Kesler) in the 3rd which cost us the 2nd goal, not great.
Giving one of the top 2 power play teams in the league 5 power plays (they went 2 of 5), not great.

No, it was an exciting game, but not a great game by the Sabres by any stretch of the imagination.
This team is better, much better than what they showed last night.
They won, it was exciting overtime hockey, cool, but you obviously weren't watching what I was.

It wasn't the greatest game in the world when viewed through the lens of a Sabres fan.

If you were looking at it from the perspective of a hockey fan with no vested interest, it was a phenomenal game.

a win is a win at this point, especially since our start sucked. Sabres are climbing up the Northeast!

Cautiously optimistic about the rest of the season. They are starting to play like a team and like they want it.

You nitpicked 6 things in the game. Our play in our own zone was outstanding. Our hustle was outstanding. I think it's safe to say we have an official number 1 line. Our PK did about as good as we could hope for, if not better, considering we were playing the #1 PP in the league. Hecht/Connolly/Pomminville didn't score, but that doesn't mean they played bad. I don't think you'll ever be happy with this team's performance, and that kind of pisses me off.

Oh - and 8 of the first 9 minutes were in our own zone, and I wasn't afraid. We looked GREAT. That says something about how they were playing...

So, let me get this straight....................

You don't like my opinion nor the reasoning behind it so you decide to call it nitpicking.
You then go on to say that you don't think I'll ever be happy with the teams performance, and your mad about that.

And yet, regardless as to how you feel about my view of what I saw on the ice (which I did state it was an exciting game with an exciting finish) my opinion isn't going to change. I want this team to perform better. They're more than capable of it.

Last year, a lot of coaches would say they lost because they didn't play their game, they let the other team win, blah blah blah.

That statement says something to me about this years' Sabres. If Pominville and Connolly can get their acts together, we're going to be a nightmare of a team to play against.

The only thing that sucked about last night's game was seeing Myers get steamrolled.
