Why rebuild? The team is just 2 or 3 players away to make significant gains to make playoffs.

Scotty Bowman is also a close-talker, and spits when he talks. :)

Rebuilding for this playoff season would be a waste of money I think. In the Spring though, man we have a lot of fat that could be trimmed.

there's still a chance making the playoffs.

I think that many teams give up too early.

I guess I'm just looking ahead. Yes there is a a chance to make it in but with this squad we're talking about a shallow run at best. Would love to see fresh faces next season and a new attitude.

We could believe them as talking the talk without walking the walk, or that can actually be true. We have plenty of players in our system, whether it be in Buffalo or Portland. Too many of those players are mediocre at best. Why not clear some room by removing some and getting help where it is needed most?

Beyond Myers, Miller, Vanek and Roy I don't see a whole lot of talent on this team. Everyone else falls into the "Meh" category. The argument against rebuilding is just more of the same old Darcy bull about building from within. Banking on the young guys to become superstars is wishfull thinking, and to not pull in outside talent is plain stupid in my opinion. Either way, I'm looking forward to changes.

I would concider them on the next teir down personally. I mean, the four I listed are the guys that I would like to have stay, even though Vanek's pay check is too high. I see them as the "non-movables". Outside of them, yes we have guys with a lot of heart (I really like Monty) who I would like to keep but in rebuilding who knows.

Again how do you know where Quinn stops and Darcy begins... I know you call it my Darcy man crush... but i remember the days when Darcy brought in Gimmore, Juno, Danny and Chris... Darcy has made deals in the past... Darcy knows talent... yes he may stick with some guys to long... and he has, in the past over paid, but how has he been recently on contracts? Morrison and Leopold look solid... the question in how much of the Darcy bull is actually Quinn bull Darcy is forced to shovel... tote the company line if you will... I wanna see Darcy minus Quinn...

As for Building blocks.... your about correct... Myers, Miller, Vanek, Roy... Possiable Ennis, Adam, Kassian.... solid starter Monte... Leopold... and Weber is getting there... I still like McCormick, Kaleta and Goose and 4th line guys .... you can'thave a team full of Ov's and Sid's... Grier and Neids are past their prime... Hecht Pommers Staff are meh to me right now... Timmy can go....

I never even mentioned Darcy. I don't like him....you do, end of story.

As for building blocks. Team full of Ovi's and Sid's? Shit, I'd be happy with one! Yes there are people on the team that are good, never said they weren't. All I did was say who I consider to be the untouchable players that we can build around.

uummm second line in.... "The argument against rebuilding is just more of the same old Darcy bull about building from within..."

As for who I'd move... I'd still send Vanek, pick.... maybe prospect for Malkin... but that'll never happen...lol

The entire point of my post was simple. There are a few people I would want to keep and all others are on the chopping block. It's just my opinion. As for Darcy, if you honestly think he's gonna be here let alone make the moves needed to really improve this team instead of lateral signings etc, well good luck with that.

Look, this shit about Darcy having his hands tied is horse shit. All I have heard from him is how if we build from within we'll be a great team blah blah blah. Well? Where is that Cup? Oh yea.....still building from within. It's old and i'm not falling for his crap again. How about the "it'll be fun playing without Roy" blurb he spit out? The guy just strikes me as an ass hat. He hasn't made a move worth writing home about for some time and the mistakes he's made in not signing people were terrible. Luckily I don't think I'll have to have this debate for very much longer. You're invited to the going away party I'll be throwing for him if you want. :D

Not to defend Darcy, but 'build from within' could simply be his was of saying 'I can't do shit' without actually saying it. If his hands were tied, do you honestly think he could come out and say it? No way; he'd be fired instantly.

There is something to be said for the fact that Darcy USED to make decent moves, but really hasn't since BTG has owned the team and he's reported to Quinn. He's obviously capable of doing it, and I don't think it's coincidence that it stopped when Quinn was effectively in charge.

Regardless, I'd think Pegula wants his own people in place, so I don't worry too much about Darcy being around after this year.

I didn't really like the Roy quote you're right on that.... And I would like to know if it was a Darcy or Quinn policy "not to negotiate contracts in season" .... it's still a fun debate... I still may attend the going away party... depending on who they hire as GM...lol... not that I know anything about GM talent that may be out there, but you guys should be able to give me an idea...lol
