He wouldn't be the 1st Sabre's goalie to be sick of the bullshit and the lame excuses.

If you're going to say that I can't speculate that Miller's personal life isn't affecting his play, they certainly you can't speculate that it is, right? Two sides of the same coin.

Look, my only point here is that nobody would be bringing up Miller's engagement if it wasn't to an attractive actress who's been in Maxim. Just wouldn't happen. The second it came out who he was even dating people started in with how it would affect his play, ignoring the fact that he had been seeing her for almost a year at that point as it's come out since.

I've never said that he hasn't been affected by it. It's a lifestyle changing thing. What I'm saying is that any effect that this has on his play is negligible at best. How many other players on the team have entered into relationships this season? Are we now going to say that the entire team's struggles are because they're all getting pussy regularly? (Or in Roy's case, sausage.)

This should make a few sigs.

As for Willy Wonky, I don't want to say anything bad about him, because I don't know him, but he seems a little out there. It could be ANYTHING that's bothering him. Maybe he's concentrating too much on capturing a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker's photo??? Who the hell knows!

Except that i'm stating that it is at least a valid option, and you're saying "Absofuckingloutelynot" and punching unknown masses of innocent kitties at the mere mention of it! thats not really speculation on your part. I guess I just didnt infer enough of the un-written 'imo' from your posts.

as for the rest, which wasnt quoted, yeah, I mostly agree. I just dont think it can be completely disregarded as a POSSIBLE cause/component/aid to his relatively lackluster play.

On a wholly different note, 10:30 games piss me off, i'm going to be asleep before the second period, i'll have to avoid hearing the score all the next day until I can get home and watch it on DVR. Bastard time zones.

Good luck with that. Maybe living in a different city it's easier, but people will fuck with ya all day here if they know. At least 2 douche's will sum the game up for ya.

Yeah well, the death of a close family member is completely different than getting engaged.

His defense sucks but I think he's still hurt, I am glad he is sticking it out though.

im not. if hes hurt to the point that its effecting his game he should sit out and get healthy. he isnt doing the team any good playing hurt.

i dunno. sure its the opposite ends of the spectrum, but its the same idea. outside life does effect work at times. no matter who you are.

Having a family member pass away after a long fight with cancer does not affect you the same way as committing to marry someone that you love. The emotions and reactions are completely different.

People are really stretching at this point.

nor did i say they did. i asked if his play was affected by it, then suggested that outside factors in personal life do affect your job, regardless of what you do and who you are. just like you and i. to what degree it is, no one knows. probably not even miller himself.

It was good to see the defense come to Ryan's aid last night a few times

Not only that, Miller looked like last seasons form last night.
He can be so good when he's focused/not injured.

Too bad really, that his talents are most likely going to be wasted this season. But I won't discount Buffalo out of the playoffs yet. There is still half a season of hockey to play and roughly 10 points to make up. If the Sabres can go on a 7 or 8 game winning streak we could see some hope.

But all kidding put aside (yes Squanto, my TRADE MILLER post was in jest and poking fun at you :D ), It almost looks like the team is playing lights out hockey in front of Miller. I lost count, but there were so many blocked shots last night, it reminded me of last season (at least, some of last season) where the guys infront of Miller were sacrificing the body to block the shots.
I was impressed by both Miller and the defensive play last night. The only complaint I have is Weber's apparent inability to throw punches at Clowe.

Great work in San Jose Miller, I am hoping we see this for the remainder of the season.

The thing I have noticed is that he plays way out of the net to "challenge the shooter", as has always been his style, but after he makes the initial save he just lays there motionless, at the top of the crease, and looks around for the puck. Meanwhile, the opposing forwards are buzzing around the net setting up the inevitable goal. I'm no world class goaltender, but shouldn't he be hurrying his ass back into position as soon as that first save is made?

That and he has not, in general, been making as many big saves on odd man rushes and breakaways. The kind of saves that separate a $2M goalie from a $6.25M goalie.

Great game against SJ, though. You could even say he stole one there, which is another thing he has not done much of this year.

Miller went to hell last night. A goaltender giving up five goals with the net wide open fails to do his job.
