I hope he plays well and everything.

But good for him I guess. He always had that amazingly cool sounding last name though.

How can your English STILL be this bad after 10 years of living here.

I'm sure he sounds as dumb in Russian as he does in "English." Still, he speaks better than Leodis McKelvin. Then again; maybe that's Russian that McKelvin speaks...

He was given first line minutes, PP time, and great linemates and he played like a drunk fratboy night in and night out. His speed was neutralized in '07/'08 and his bad decision-making cost us way too many rushes. His refusal to think more and dick around less was a serious hindrance for a guy who used to be such a linchpin for the offense.

I booed him last night, and I was unapologetic in doing so. His decisions and vision last night were such that we as Sabres fans hadn't seen in three years. So, fuck you, Max, for refusing to play like that while you were still a Sabre. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on.

PS - you were only signed to keep Kovalchuk happy. Go nail your hot, SUCCESSFUL girlfriend now.

fuck that noise. kozlov? feel free to boo. a player who gave a decade, and was a very effective player for the team, who gave his all night in and night out? thats pretty shitty. just because someone loses their effectiveness doesnt make it ok to boo him in my eyes. he moved on, the sabres moved on.... i dont get it. JP wasnt a sabre even close to as long as max, but hes loved. same with grier. shoot, grier was a sabre a whole 2 seasons, and now wes treated as god, with mediocre jokes to boot (though, i myself am a huge grier fan). i think its really really poor.

Max is like one of those high-priced, exotic pets - He looks really good "in public", but you know he's a bit crazy in the head, and aren't sure whether he'll bite you if you let your guard down...

He lost his effectiveness because he was a fucking baby that couldn't handle being told he had to play smarter.

He was entirely in control of how he was going to play. And his final 2 years in Buffalo were shit.

With guys like J.P., you always knew what you were going to get; a solid effort and smart play. He's been one of the most consistent players I can think of during his time in the NHL. Same thing with Grier.

Your warm, teddy bear fuzzies for Max are consistent with a good portion of Buffalo fans. Thankfully, there are also quite a few who saw it as it was and didn't get all choked up about getting him out of here.

So far, I think the results are pretty clear.

Yes, the female fans...t'was the same with Kotalik. Call it the cuteness factor.

No one is saying it wasn't his time to go, just that it's not right for him to get booed his first time back in the building. Rob's post on the other page sums my feelings up really nicely on the last page so I didn't feel I needed to add a whole lot to this thread, but there's definitely a fine line between what Alex called funny booing and the man being completely disrespected. It has nothing to do with a 'cute' factor, and has everything to do with a person calling Buffalo home for 10 years and then getting trashed at. For a place that considers itself the city of good neighbors, I expected much more out of them.

Prima Donna's rarely put out as much effort as Max. I wouldn't boo him, he was just a frustrated guy who lost touch with his job.

If he was a lazy son of a bitch like yashin, for example, then I would boo him.

Goodluck to ya max

Hey like Alex said, it started with a few fans who didn't know to boo him or not, then it escalated into everyone booing him.

Even if very few people boo a guy in a crowd it is a very audible thing so it could sound like many more ae booing him. If Max wasn't as lazy with the puck as he was his last few years, I'm sure he wouldn't have been booed. many probably booed him because of how bad he simply got in his production. Would you really want to give first line minutes and PP time to a guy who just isn't getting it done anyways?

Stevie Ray Vaughan live in Montreux 1982 was booed by a few people, and most of the rest were clapping but the boos were very audible in those recordings.

I don't care how much effort a guy puts out there if he's not playing a team game or playing smart. All that effort was to be flashy for what he thought (and was right to a certain extent) that fans wanted to see. 05-07 inflated a LOT of players stats league wide, and Max used it as justification to skate all over the damn place without any regard to his linemates or the game plan. He's going to keep playing that way, and one goal in Buffalo won't change the overall ineffectiveness of his game. I'm glad he's gone, and I wouldn't care whether people booed him or cheered him - to each their own - as long as he's not in Buffalo anymore.

Hmm... Funny then that you don't hear the minority teams fans overpower the home teams cheers -- if boo's are so much stronger. Max was never lazy, just not smart. You can't yell at a retard for being retarded; thats just silly.
It's pretty classless in my opinion...

Oh and PS: those were ignorant swiss, unfamiliar with american blues. These are so called competent hockey fans, very familiar with max.

Well there is still more cheering and yelling at a hockey game and more continuous noise then at concerts, booing and clapping is different I would say so.

Stevie was booked on a mostly acoustic night anyways, and his very loud overpowering guitar playing isn't what they were wanting to hear that night.

What's wrong with booing players who left Buffalo leaving the city feeling slighted?

We offered to match Chris Drury any amount of money he was offered, and yet in his interview when he was signed by New York, he stated, "When it came down to it, the decision was pretty easy."

Pretty easy? Fuck you Drury. Boo his ass.

Max, I've already made my case for.

Satan, the man who didn't backcheck or give two shits about the defensive side of the game while he was here in Buffalo, deserves to be booed.

So who else are we talking about here? Marty got a standing ovation. Dumont doesn't get booed. I don't think I ever heard Barnes get booed.

WE CAN'T BOO FAN FAVORITES or everyone gets all upset.

Boo him because of how he just played himself out of a lineup. Those other players don't get booed because of their play here and never being such a liability that Max was.

because max didnt leave on bad terms. if it was up to him, he would be in buffalo, and the past two years would have gone very differently for him. he struggled, the fans got on him, he figured it was better to move on with his career. he did that. buffalo fans should applaud him for his hard work and tenure in buffalo, and as well, his ability to figure this out, get back on his feet, and move on in his career, and play fairly well.

Fans will boo who fans will boo, and cheer who they will cheer. That's what it means to be a fan... the right to cheer and the right to boo. You may not always agree with the will of the majority, but if the majority want to cheer who you want to boo, or vice-versa, that's tough noogies!
