I think he deserves a free pass for the goal last night because he's played so well since January. That doesn't mean he gets a blank check to do whatever the hell he wants in net, but it does mean the occasional major mistake is forgiven. Like I said earlier in the thread, I didn't mind that Hasek often made incredibly stupid moves coming out of the net because he did so much right on a regular basis that it made up for that. Miller gets the same treatment but to a lesser degree because he's no Hasek.

Ok, he passes the what have you done for me lately test, but it matter not as he'll be gone soon. He was shitty at draws for his time here.

I'm not going to argue it, I want him gone just as much as you do.

I would actually like to retain TC as a bottom 6 forward/role player. He can't win draws, is too soft, and injured too often for top 6 minutes. I think he'd be ok as an injury fill in, and line-juggling spark for the top 6, along with a PP specialist. He'd have to be ok with that role, and take a fair salary though, which he probably won't(even though he kind of owes this organization, imo). Ideally he'd play 3rd line LW, and take the draws his center(Goose?) got booted on.

Hey, I'm not gonna hold a grudge against the guy, but I ain't willing to remove blame either.

I've been asking that the entire season once it was apparent that Miller wasn't playing well. Miller has a much bigger cushion before people start criticizing him than anyone else on the team except for maybe Myers and Kaleta.

That having been said I was annoyed, but mostly fine with the Carolina game. That was the Ryan Miller we can expect. Elite ability to read the play, elite movement below the waist (to the point where he gets caught too far away from the posts sometimes because he thinks he can get back and can't). Average to above average high, Lalimian with the puck, and the tendency to let a few more point shots through than some other goalies because he isn't as big.

I'm not going to blame Miller for all his mistakes, because all people make mistakes. I just refuse to give a pass away on that giveaway. It was atrocious, and cost us the game. All in all, he isn't having his best season, but I'm not complaining about that anyways.

Sabres fans naturally notice Miller's mistakes more and escalate it as if he's the only goalie who doesn't know how to handle the puck.

Not sure what to say to that.

I think she's right. Miller is below average, but most of them have their giveaways too.

Yeah I don't disagree with the point. Definitely fair to say that Miller isn't the only goalie that's a poor puckhandler.

there are plenty of poor puck handling goaltenders in the NHL. but honestly, miller is way down there. its probably his biggest fault. but because his main job is to stop pucks, it wont really be a big deal.

shockingly, though he was always an adventure outside his net, hasek was actually a pretty good puck handler.

Now that I'm not dead tired I'll expound on my first post. I'm a huge Miller fan and think the rest of the team should be built around him. That 2nd goal was just plain awful though. I was shaking my head before the puck got to the Carolina player on the side boards. Then Miller over-commited to the initial chance and took himself totally out of position. Absolutely terrible. The last goal was a softie, but not horrible. Yeah Buffalo should have been able to score a 3rd goal, but there wasn't any blatently terrible whiffs or chokes on open nets with time to shoot.

As the thread title hinted, I think of Miller as something close to a god-like figure, but sometimes he's really fucked up by getting out of position this season. Last night was a bad time for another instance. The team is still going in the right direction, so I don't expect this game to be a make or break.

It coincides with the time of year. If we had the President's trophy in hand, it wouldn't be near as bad, but this situation has everyone on edge. The important thing is to be able to regain composure after you're not angry anymore(iow, look over the situation, and send your sorry PM; that is if you really are sorry). If you think this is bad, try hf boards. People start threads over minor penalties ffs.
