You're saying that irrespective to the score, as long as it's a 1-goal, then it still qualifies as defense intensive? Huh? So if the final score is 20-19, we can assume it was quite the defensive battle!
When there is an intensive defensive game, one or both teams has essentially SHUT DOWN the other team offensively. You know: 1-0 in OT, 1-0 in reg, 2-1, maybe even 3-2 if you're playing a particularly high-octane offense, ie; the Caps. Hard to make that argument when both teams together are potting goals approaching or passing the double digit mark.
