$3M is an overpayment for Stempniak. Period.

A good deal for Stempniak is around 2 mill.

After a 28 goal season? Come on 3 mill on a 1 or 2 year contract is not bad, if he doesnt keep up the production you trade him or wait it out and release him. I mean what we pay guys clearly is irrelevant on this team seeing as Gaustad gets 2.5 mill a year to get 12 goals a total 22 pts and be a minus player on top of it.

Who cares what Gaustad makes. That's not relevant to this discussion.

The question is: Is Stempniak worth spending $3M per year on? Looking at the larger picture (beyond his 14 game outburst last year) would tell you that answer should be no.

I'm not so sure this entire thread is relevant when you consider the fact that they are already over their self imposed budget and are hell bent on having roster flexibility.

Unless there's a trade I think the Sabres are pretty much set for next season.

And the Yotes have a lot of cap space, they will likely bring Stempielongstalkings back.

It has a little bit to do with it seeing as we're trying to put a price tag on a player, so why not compare stats with a player already under contract with the Sabres?

Because JUST ABOUT EVERYBODY AGREES THAT GAUSTAD IS OVERPAID.

Contrary to what folks at the old board would have you believe, we're not a bunch of Gaustad worshippers. Generally, folks here like certain parts of his game, but cannot stand the fact that he is paid what he does to do it.

You're just bringing up Gaustad to stir the pot.

Kennedy was made expendable by the signing of McCormick and Niedermayer, that's all. If he wasn't a Buffalo guy, no would give a shit about him being let go.

Stafford is never fulfill his potential, or at least not in a Sabres uniform. To compare Stafford to Stempniak is like comparing Afinagenov to Crosby.

I'll agree to disagree. I don't think we need Stempniak in a Sabres uniform (especially at 3 million/per season), but I understand how others can see it differently...

It's not that. It's that so many people have posted the player isn't the issue yet people STILL think we are pissed over it.

I meant wash it down with alcohol. Drink alcohol with Tylenol PM. It's probably going to hurt you if you do that.

i dont think it matters, if you mix pain killers and alcohol, its never good, even if not taken together. i always wake up fine, but even in nights when im not hammered drunk, 20 minutes after taking it, i black out, or brown out. usually this happens RIGHT before i fall asleep. like 20 minutes before.

Oh, and Mr. ZacKrell, I'm glad you finally found this place. It sucks you had to deal with HT and Ferret for so long without back-up, and emotions might run hot here, but we're the type of guys who can argue back and forth but probably be able to buy you a beer (or pop if you're underage haha) at the end of the day.
