I firmly believe this was not Darcy's doing, and if it isn't I want him to toss Quinn and Goli under the bus during tomorrow's presser. Even if he loses his job, I want the truth on how many shitty moves were ownership's fault.

Apparently they want both Gerbe and Mancari to make the team...maybe Adam or Kassian.

Everything done and said since Niedermayer says the team is done adding forwards, so the only option is more rookies...swell.

Also, let's suppose that Kennedy accepted his qualifying offer, or that the Sabres "won" the arbitration hearing, and he was only set to make 700-800k next season. Does any of us really think that Buffalo was going to waive Kennedy in that case?? Hell, no...so why the fark would they waive him over 200-300k??

Really I've been a patient fan, but this move stinks like a homeless man's shit filled pants after he already got run over and killed (and I've had to smell that a time or two). This could be a tipping point for me as a fan.

No, they simply gave away a player that had some amount of promise (whether you liked him or not) for nothing, over a few hundred thousand in cap space...brilliant.

They didn't give him away...they're willing to pay for the right not to have him on the team.

It's funny, people on the Bills boards apparently can't handle Sabres news anytime I guess. Apparently they think Aaron Schobel being told to fuck off seems more important than the shocking news of Kennedy randomly being waived.

One name this is jumping out at me right now, because it's a mess. Murry says he'll match any Offer Sheet on Bobby Ryan, but he can't afford to sign him to the near 5M I'm sure his agent wants.

Buffalo can, and has proven their willing to spend to the cap...Kennedy made a full roster, and would have to clear waivers due to the amount of games he's played.

Long story short, Buffalo gets Bobby Ryan, super skilled, super sized, super hard working, and Kennedy becomes an undersized skill player, forced into a 3rd line role, roster size casualty.

Just a thought that popped into my head while I was hitting the 9th green today.

Yeah that would be great, except we all know that (or anything like it) will never happen in Buffalo.

If anything they're just going to sign Stempniak, but in that case they could still keep Kennedy and leave Gerbe in Portland.

Question though. this is definitely a bit of vindictiveness. I mean the sabres have the cap space. If they wanted they could offer ryan a contract. this isn't really saving them a ton of money. it's not like they are getting rid of connolly's contract. And if it is vindictiveness what free agent is going to want to come to buffalo knowing the management is vindictive.

Aaaaand cue my idiot drum, I can't read...Anahiem has 13M in cap space, not 1.3M...yikes...in any event, it's definitely a roster size casualty

Can only have 22 players on your active NHL roster, Kennedy made 22 when he signed. He HAS to clear waivers to go back to AHL; so thats the reason for this, he won't make it out of waivers, so Buffalo wont be stuck for the cap hit anyway. Toronto, Colorado, Chicago, Atlanta, LA are all pretty good spots for him to land, and one of them would put in a claim on him I'm sure. His contract is pretty inexpensive for a 26 point scorer last year.
