That was probably the best save of the year for Miller.

I love that it was TSN's highlight of the night, and damn near everyone is calling it the save of the year.

A save like that hearkens back to days of yore, when a young Ryan Miller during his first season as a bona fide NHL starter led his team into the 2006/2007 playoffs while making these gems:

Miller, who is the best goalie in the NHL IMHO, made me pee myself he is so good. Idk how anyone can say he is not the best... Who ever can keep the Sabres in a game where if any other goalie was in they would let in 5 goals except for Patrick Roy in his prime, Hasek in his prime, or Broduer in his prime, Idk EVEN THEN, is a top 3 goalie in the NHL. #30 is #1. Thanks Miller.

that save was spectacular, but lets be honest here... that was ALL luck. that was one of those "look what i found" saves. pulled a rabbit out of his ass.

what shocked me was how long it seemed he stayed still before deciding "oh, shit, pucks over there now. better move!" and then springing over so fast.

Oh we all know it was luck...hell, even Miller himself admits it as such.

ive made a few saves like that, where even the ref skates over and goes "lucky.."

but you have to be lucky to be good, and good to be lucky.

He showed is glove hand. He ROSE his glove hand. He thought, "If I raise my glove and remain on the ground, 50% chance I will save it". It was luck that the guy didn't raise the puck higher, but he knew where the puck was and knew what he was doing.

Luck was indeed involved.

But if luck was everything, Ryan wouldn't have had to move to make that save.

I'll say 85% skill, 15% luck.

i dunno. that puck was shot from like 8 feet away.... he was just trying to cover as much net as possible. and it worked.

50/50 id say. regardless, that puck goes in, sabres dont win that game.
