We have too many defensemen on the roster.
Butler
Lydman
Montador
Myers
Paetsch
Rivet
Sekera
Tallinder
I think one should go to Portland. Either Montador or Sekera should go so we can call up a forward like Ennis to be scratched until ready to play. We need Paetsch for a little extra scoring.

I'd send both Sekera and Montador to Portland, as they both make over a million per season. Then we can rename the club The Portland Millionares........

;)

ennis sitting the pine is dumb. let him develop down in portland. sekera, ive heard, is playing well at wing.

TRADE MYERS! he would get a hell of a return!

First, eight d-men is not too many since Patesch and now Sekera can play forward in a pinch. Injuries have already happened with Lydman and Sekera, so they have all been needed to step in at some point after only 20 games.

Second, the only d-man that can be sent to Portland without clearing waivers is Butler. Butler should not be sent down, and any other player would get picked up anyway...except maybe Paetsch. Since Paetsch is making dirt, that would be as productive as the Mair situation.

Third, there is no need what-so-ever to call up Ennis unless he is needed to play the next game or games. If there is a hole due to injury, the rules make that roster spot open for a call-up. Why have Ennis sit in the press box just to be on the roster when he could be playing in Portland? If Ruff wants him to play it will be due to injury anyway, so he may as well stay on Portland's roster and play until he's needed to play in Buffalo.

i wouldn't mind swapping d-men like a two for one deal. to land a pick and say cody franson. say sekera, and lydman and a pick for franson and a 3rd or 2nd. nothing against sekera i've liked him of late. i just think franson might be a better prospect.

paetsch i think provides that scoring we are looking for....stupid lindy keeps him a healthy scratch....i'm not watching sabres hockey anymore till paetsch plays.....

and he damn well better be on the first line with 20+ minutes per game....THIS is how we score goals folks

i'd say if the isles have to many goalies and we have too many defensemen a swap. i mean three goalies with lalime not playing i could live with that.

I agree we have alot of dmen, but as of late they are all playing fine.

The only reason we carried 8 this year was the exceptional play of Myers. I don't even know if Butler could clear waivers due the amount of games he has played already. He should since he didn't play in over 100 games or whatever the limit is now.

A lot of people would. Lalime to me, is an AHL goalie at best.

The main thing with our D-men this year, is all of them have played some games due to the many injuries we've been accumulating on the Blueline.

Rivet went down today, so either Patches or Shakira will be tomorrow.

I'd love to see Weber up. This is the break he needs.

+1

I still like Weber, even though his preseason sucked. Hopeful he can be a top 4 D-man one day, and maybe this is his start.

Nope, I don't think we have too many. 8 is not that many...when one or two goes down we can fill the void nicely.

going to come in handy with rivet and gaustad being out. i know i heard on channel two news both leg injuries and they said that both injuries where thought to be lengthy. my guess is shakira is back in the line up, probably with montador and lydman pairs with Butler, then mair or paetsch take the forward spot.

Actually, according to Portland, the media, other teams, hockey analysts and the Sabres organization itself, we have 12 Dmen who are NHL capable and ready to play. That makes it to many.

Wish we had "too many" in the '06 ECF.

Buffalo does not have too many d-men Toronto has too many, they have 10 defenseman and now they want Sopel. They really know how to re-build in TO.
