The Buffalo Sabres have announced the signing of forward Tyler Ennis, their second of two first-round picks in the 2008 entry draft. It is a three-year, entry-level contract, with terms to come.

Ennis, selected 26th overall after the Sabres picked Tyler Myers with the 12th selection, was a potent scorer in juniors who had one year of eligibility remaining with Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League. He scored 46 goals in each of the past two seasons, adding 48 assists in 2007-08 and 42 assists last season.

The speedy and shifty Ennis will have to prove his lack of size can translate to the professional level. The 5-foot-9 center weighs 163 pounds at a time when the sport is transitioning back to big bodies.

Ennis figures to start his career with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

That's great news. Have him do a year in Portland, and if he pans out we could have him for 2 years in the big leagues for cheap.

I'm with you, Mike. I'm a fan of Tyler Small. I hope he kicks eight shades of ass this season with the Pirates.

cool about time....now let's hope he turns out to be a good one (even though he is a midget, i guess we are allowed at least one on the team)

Manning the machine gun on the Tyler Myers Bandwagon - just in case any teams have an idea of prying him away from us (3 GM's shot already)

I like his attitude, hopefully he'll be as good as his favorite players in St. Louis and Briere.

He's got serious potential, and not of the "burned out, worn-out-welcome" kind of variety

Ennis doesn't strike me as having the mean streak Theo has...

Are there any up coming pre season games on TV so we can look at some of these guys?

it does not appear so. the sabres's website does not say anything on the preseason schedule about any games being on TV.

As for Ennis he seemed to play well with pominville. i say any player that can bring the good pominville back deserves to be considered heavily.

This could be completely unfounded because I see nothing of it on the website, but I did hear that the game on the 23rd against the Leafs was to be televised. Anyone else hear anything about that?

All of the Canadian teams' preseason games are being broadcast by TSN - Whether we get the feed or not....who knows.

But, at least having it broadcast means it can (probably) be viewed online.
