Great article. I absolutely fucking love Miller. When they interview him after games I just totally think to myself I wouldn't want anyone else as the face of our franchise.

He's such a stone cold killer this year. In season's past, he found his wonk on the ice. But this season, he comes to the dressing room with wonk in full effect. It's ten kinds of badass.

I enjoy how far ahead he is of the people in second in save percentage and GAA. The difference between second and third and etc. in those categories isn't all that great, but the difference between first and second is actually significant.

I've definitely noticed the maturation of Miller this year, especially in his interviews. His interviews are so refreshing because he actually says something of substance. The one thing I miss though is how emotional he used to be get...now he's all mature and grown up after a tough loss. I used to enjoy seeing him look like he's about to smack a bitch and when he would throw shit when he was mad. It used to be the only bright spot after a bad loss. :D

wasnt long ago, after a major loss to the wings, in 03-04, he was in the locker room, almost crying, and the big thing on miller was "he has alot of growing up to do if he wants to make it."

Miller has become THE franchise goalie, for the Sabres - In all respects; perhaps moreso than even Hasek.

He is the face of the franchise and a consummate professional - Leadership written all over him, his words and his actions.

Before anyone jumps on you for misinterpreting your post, just lemme say that I think you're absolutely right. Not since Perreault has any one player embodied the team so completely. While he may never have the numbers that Hasek did, this team is "Ryan's team" 100%.

its very possible... and while i know this isnt your point, hasek changed the way the game was played when he was in net. i dont think millers there... but might not be long....

i love miller, but boy do i miss watching dom flop around the crease seeking out a puck. his game changed after he became a wing, he played more a style then before.

Thanks, Phil and Mike - You're both right. I'm not talking about technique. It's the "culture" he's brought to the team. "Shut up and win".

And having Rivet and Grier and many others backing him shows his influence.

I can't imagine the rebuild required, were he to leave. Devastating.

He is the balls and the conscience of the Buffalo Sabres...He "man's up" as good as the best.
