Buffalo needs a point man on the PP...badly. They look like bubble hockey players standing in one spot all the time, and I'm not sure that Butler, Myers, or Sekera have confidence or the time to develope into that player yet. Pucks aren't getting through from the point because they don't move well enough, and don't have the poise to create shot lanes. Vanek and Gaustad aren't getting any easy garbage goals, or even rebound opportunities because of it, and the lack of a PP is further hampering their scoring woes.

Seidenberg and Leopold are on one year deals with Florida, a team with no chance this year. They will be available and each of them would be relatively cheap upgrades as a #3-5 d-man, but especially as point men on the PP. Florida would likely want a younger and cheaper d-man that will also be under contract for at least another year in return. That boils down to Sekera or maybe Gragnani. I'd like to shed Paetsch or Lydman in this deal (even though I like Lydman) but I doubt Florida would take salary.

So is the PP enough of a problem to make a player move this season, or do people have enough faith in Myers, Butler, or Sekera to become good PP point men?

The point position isn't the problem. Lindy establishes the PP system, so I believe its a failure on his part. Nothing against Lindy mind you, but you could run a different style system, right now, they use alot of Overload and Umbrella, not effective. Myers, Sekera, Rivet, these guys need the shot lanes open to get the puck to the net, that requires movement down low.
Hasn't anyone noticed the players along the boards don't move a whole lot? Has no one noticed when Myers or Sekera step into towards the circles it causes the oppositions box or daimond to collapse in that direction, leaving gaping shooting lanes open? Also, has no one noticed the purely pathetic passing on going with the players Lindy has inserted into the PP?
