I missed the game, and when I heard that Miller was shaken, I became a little concerned.

Were the goals a product of poor play and great plays by the Pens, or were they goals he should have/could have stopped?

Glad to see we got the win though!

Miller was terrible. Those were stupid goals.

I've never heard of a goalie getting pulled for unavoidable goals, unless it's late in the game and the coach wants to spark the team. :P

Anyway, he allowed three goals on eleven shots.

First time he was pulled this season (I think)! For that reason alone, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. :P

The first goal was a tough rebound, not the end of the world. The second and third were just terrible though.

Between that, he was overcommiting on moves across the crease, wasn't out as far as he normally is to challenge shooters, just wasn't himself.

As Lindy said, if he puts up 1 stinker every 40 games he can live with it. :)

The 3rd was a screen (Dupuis) wasn't it?

The first goal was just a bad play by Myers who let Kennedy get his own dump and Tallinder failder to get the rebound. I wouldn't blame Miller for that although he didn't look sharp there. The second goal was Miller's fault, Guerin surprised him with a shot from the board and it went in between the blocker and his body, that was an ugly one. The 3rd goal was also a bad defensive play, Crosby had all time in the world to make a pass to the wide-open Kunitz (backchecking anyone?) and Miller got screened by Dupuis.

For me it was not so much to get Miller off the game but to shake the defense up. A new goalie reminds the defense to do the job properly.

I agree with Salzig. The 1st was a rebound from a soft but high shot that landed right where Staal was skating in, beating Tallinder after a timid play from Myers. The 2nd was just bad. The 3rd was more timid defense allowing Kunitz to step into a hard slapper with Dupuis jumping and screening Miller. From the regular camera angle it looked shaky, but from the end board angle Miller couldn't follow the puck while Dupuis skated into and jumped along his sight line.

I thought it was a good switch though, because the team needed a wake up call (unfortunately...again). It worked out this time, but this team still has a real problem being ready to play from the opening faceoff, and it's got to change.

I'll have to take a look at that 3rd goal again then. I didn't get a solid look at the screen, so maybe I'm misplacing blame.

If it's the goal I'm thinking of a Pens player actually jumped into Millers view at the last second and might've thrown him off a bit. I still think an on-his-game Miller could've stopped it though.

I think Miller got pulled once before, but it was more because the team was laying an egg in front of him.

Miller got pulled?
Well, thats news to me, I didn't start watching the game until early in the second.
But hey, this game wasn't about goalies or defense, HOW ABOUT THAT OFFENSIVE STYLE OF PLAY BABY.

Just got to love it. Looks like the old rule does apply, "spend more time in the opponents zone, that equates to playing less time on defense. How do you accomplish that? By playing smart, aggressive, (and here is the part I just love) OFFENSIVE STYLE hockey".

That 3rd goal wasn't screened...he saw it all the way but he wasn't out far enough and reacted too slowly...it was very un-Miller-esque.

Well Irony, even Tiger Woods has bad days  ;)

But I agree, his luster or shine hasn't worn of, he has played quite a few games and everybody has a bad day at work now and then. I hope his great season continues. Although I'm really not that interested in the Olympics, I hope he does well there as well.

He was bad and then threw a hissy fit in the hallway.

well, of course, but he cant keep up his pace all season. im thinking he will end at 2.25 gaa with .925 save percentage, identical to his first 5 months of the 2005-2006 season.

Think Tiger Woods has had any good days lately?

Although sitting on a billion dollars, with the ability to make a lot more "ain't" too bad of a deal either...... (sans his "sin" tax.....)

He's had two bad games this season, and it's the end of the first half. It's no big.

of course its no big. but to have him keep pace with almost a .935 save percentage with a sub 2 goals against average... sorry, but it isnt going to happen unless the defense keeps the opposition to under 25 a game all season long...

in short, no fucking way.

but thats ok.

Oh my goodness, don't even.

During that game when he let in five goals, I was laughing hysterically at the thought that Ruff sent the wrong goalie down to Portland. :? I don't know why it was so absolutely hilarious to me.
