An absolutely EXCELLENT blog entry about our beloved Goose. Ferret's comments need not apply We’ve talked about Goose’s leadership time and time again, and getting an ‘A’ this year is a huge accomplishment. It’s a new role for a guy so many Sabres fans have hoped he was capable of, and so far he seems to fit the bill. More importantly, his numbers on ice have improved dramatically this season. With eight goals in just 27 games, Goose will easily break his career-high in goals and leads the league in faceoff percentage. He has solidified his role as one of the team’s top centers, and his situational utility makes him invaluable on set plays. All of a sudden, Paul Gaustad is worth the 4-year, $9.2 million contract extension he signed last summer; a not-so-small feat on a perpetually cash-strapped team. Read the entire entry here EDIT: That was a damned-embarrassing typo in the title that I just fixed haha |

Hey, my sig says it all. I am a HUGE fan of Goose. I love his style, his hardnosed work ethic and his ability to show up every single game, come hell or high water, and of course, his contract. The few, The proud, The Goose. Yes, I am a proud member of the flock, Geese for Goose and the legend lives on Woops, and excellent post Phil. HONK! HONK! |

Glad to see the Goose is getting respect, but I must say the most epic call I ever heard about one of his goals came from Versus... "The goose was really honking in on that one!" |

I can't believe Burkie snubbed him. |

AND he said that the players were picked based on their character, not necessarily skill level in all circumstances. ??????? |

Reading this stuff really gives me a nice, warm, Goosey type of glow, ya know? I'm so proud of how far he's come. I think it unfortunate he wasn't named to the U.S. roster, but maybe that'll just keep him in the "underdog" category for me. He's come so far. And looking back on that contract extension, it doesn't seem so bad now, does it? Maybe Regier was a bit ahead of the curve and wasn't just signing Goose to get Miller to sign. Ham |

I have been saying for a long time that Goose is not overpaid, and that he was going to continue to improve. Few agreed with me last year. He's certainly making a case for it now. |

Actually, Adam, not to rain on your parade, but pretty much everyone but Ferret thought Goose was worth the money. Maybe a little overpaid, but not so much that it wrecked the team's budget. |

There's respecting history and then there's just being a curmudgeony old fart with firearms. |

Ferret has an account here, although I don't know how long it has been since he's stopped in. He's not posting on the old official forums either, at least not based on the last couple times I poked my head in. |
