"Patrick Lalime didn't get much action at his end during the Buffalo Sabres' preseason opener Thursday. But things won't be that way all season because the Olympics create a compacted schedule with far fewer off nights.

When coach Lindy Ruff calls Lalime's number, it's going to be critical that Ryan Miller's backup is ready to man the net."

 you qualify but I was thinking about that guy that started huge debates anytime anyone said anything negative about Lalime. This was right after Miller got hurt and he came in and let a goal in back to back games on the first shot. He had a huge man crush on Patty (which I pointed out a few times :P ) and just went ape shit making thread after thread about how great Lalime was.

I like Patty. I think he looked good last night. Well from what I could see. I had coaches heads and cameras in my way.

Yup, we've heard that before. Lalime should call Marty about that.

At least he has a good personality like Marty does. That's always good for the team.....now if he was as good as Marty I'd be a lot happier.

Well Marty gave up 2 goals in 17 shots vs. Calgary yesterday. Not bad, but not good

As a back up goalie no one can beat Marty. Great guy, gives tons of confidence to the guys and really made a seamless goalie tandem. But moving on from the past...boo hoo...

Soooooo, does this mean he is going to play more than he did two seasons ago but less than he did towards the end of last season? Riiiiiight.

I just got done watching highlights of the game last night, and i must say. That Gerbe play from behind the net that wound up on Kennedy's stick, and in the net was SWEET!!!

I agree, ignore is stats from last night, because one goal was a 5 v 3, one goal was the only one Jay Beagle will score in a Caps uni this year (even though I really wanted him in buffalo, the dude is a beast of a man), and the other one that went in, our goalie was literally checked into the net after making the initial save.

He made some good saves, and made some difficult saves look easy. People are concerned about his size, but his positioning was beyond excellent. Actually all of our NHL roster players looked really good last night. And McCormik was our best grinder last night. Hands down. I can't believe nobody else said anything about it.

Very excited for this season. We looked tough last night.

I'll cheer for Patty. Assuming his hips hold up I think he'll give a better performance than last year. I HOPE he gives a better performance than last year. It's a new year. Last year is dead to me. So until he gives me a reason to hate him I'll be in his corner cheering him on.

Haha I know...I was impersonating him. :P I think his username was BullTheFighter or something like that.

The only reason I think it wasn't actually Lalime himself trying to churn up some love is that he did it during a live game. He was all like "I've been following Patty for years and years! I even have one of his jock straps signed.....I'll never wash it! Back off my boy crush!!"

Yup that was him. Definately not one of my favorite posters. When Miller got hurt the GDT got wicked annoying for a short time because Lalime was sucking big time and every other post was him in Friggin Huge text screaming how it was everyone else on the team that was to blame, not his boy toy fantasy Patty.
