Quote:
Andrew Fillipponi Reporting
Sabres Managing Partner Larry Quinn responded to comments made by Schopp and the Bulldog Wednesday. Quinn stopped by our studios to tell listeners how badly his organization wants to win the Stanley Cup.

“Every day I come into the office, more so Darcy and Lindy, and that’s all that we think about. Now what road do you take to get there? “

Identifying a player to put the team over the hump would be one way. How open is the team to trading for a high-priced talent at the deadline?

“You should do it if it’s the one piece from the Cup. We have to believe that that’s the way to go and we’re not afraid of it.”

Quinn talked about how he fantasizes about winning the big one. He feels like some Western New Yorkers are convinced that no matter how good they are, the dye has been cast. They’ll never win it all.

“I think it’s the psyche of the community. You think about what we’ve gone through. ..My generation saw 25,000 steel jobs lost. 8,000 in the auto industry. You had people worrying about their livelihoods, seeing their children leave. We’ve been the butt of jokes. “

“I think that’s what Buffalo fans are about. I think it goes beyond sports, feeling like the guy who got kicked too much. “

One thing that got cleared up was the involvement of owner Tom Golisano.

“He’s incredibly involved. I talk to Tom at least twice a day…He never, ever tries to make a decision. He’ll ask every question you can think of. Everything I said about me wanting to win the cup, that’s him times two.”

As usual, Quinn has some ideas to make the Sabres product better. He said changes are in store for next year. He didn’t have an exact date, but the transition to road games airing in high definition is underway.

Im not sure I believe this until it happens...

Interesting..........
I wonder if Larry would take a phone call from one of the SabresJunkie crew.
I would like to place my order for a large pizza, ch + pepp. and 1 Stk + Ch sub, light oil, light mayo, and oh.....Larry, don't forget to throw the Stanley Cup in there..........:)

Larry didn't. Darcy brought 'em in, and Lindy raised 'em up.

Exactly what Phil said, and how many time have we heard that before? Im just waiting till deadline goes by and Darcy comes out and says that there was No one on the market that is useful for this team, unfortunatly if you want the cup your going to have to give some stuff up... Picks, Prospects, VANEK PLEASE lol..

I bet I can find plenty of teams in history that didn't make any trade deadline moves and won a Stanley Cup.

I'm not saying there aren't things to address with this team, but I'm not saying that it has to come from the outside of the organization either.

We'll see over the coming weeks.

Ok my question for you is, Do you think or KNOW this team can win the Cup without a trade? I mean yes take in certain factors like the team getting hot, Miller getting better, Vanek finally scoring, etc etc... it all depends, But RIGHT NOW, do you believe that THIS team is Capable of winning the cup? I think its POSSIBLE... but not Probable,... they need to get a Key player or two that can add something to this team and then we have a REAL shot at the cup, thats just my opinion...

And I hope we join that list of teams.. Call me Darcy junior but I hate giving up our future.. I think this team can win the cup without help, or some tweaking...

Did Pittsburgh make any deadline moves this year?

Did Detroit the year before?

Did Anaheim?

I don't think Carolina made anything either?

the sabres dont have any top flight, cant miss prospects. plenty of potential second liners, third liners, such. nothing that the sabres simply cant part with (kassian may be the exception)

At this point, I'd put Ennis and Weber with him, too, but that's it.

Let's not bring up the Rigas'. I worked for Adelphia. Their greed set my career back 3 years.

all four made moves, i believe. detroit obtained brad staurt.
the penguins made several moves on the deadline, and prior too.
hurricanes added doug weight and mark recchi
anahiem got brad may, and ric jackman

so all 4 teams made pretty significant moves.

Irony,

Your not even curious as to what this kid Ennis might show us? Come on now, just a little?
