...“I do think in terms of the Stanley Cup obviously. I think we can continue to get better to improve. You’re starting to see our top six scorers generate better numbers. How much can we grow between now and the end of the season? You appreciate things when you see guys sticking up for each other, showing pride…I don’t sit and think this is the team we have to beat to win the Stanley Cup. I think about what we have to do to get better.”

How do the Sabres go about getting better?

“The focus this year has been largely the top six scorers and trying to find more scoring. I think Thomas Vanek has improved. Tim Connolly is on a pretty good role. Lines are largely driven by the centers. Look at Tim Connolly and Derek Roy right now. We’re still looking for more from our top six scorers.”...

So Darcy may be looking for a significant move at the trade deadline for further improvement (or maybe the usual bland stuff...who knows), and also is looking for more production from the top six forwards.

He obviously hasn't talked enough with PSP! Sorry, man...couldn't resist. ;)

He also gushes about Myers and says Kassian was overzealous with his recent suspension earning hit.

IF the top 6 keep improving their scoring as they have been, he won't have to trade for anybody.

Time will tell.

i still think this team needs a player or two via trade before the deadline. very very good, dangerous team. just need a few improvements.

I have no advice to give at this point.

Before the season began I expected the Sabres to struggle to earn the #8 seed and here we are past the halfway point and they are contending for the top spot in the East and only nine points out of the top spot in the NHL (with three games in hand vs. league leader San Jose - our next opponent).

Right now my only advice for the Sabres is to do whatever Lindy tells you to. The man is shaping up to be one of the great hockey coaches, an image that will be solidified when he wins a Cup (or two or three or...).
