With two weeks off, what is the best way for the team to use that time preparing for the last run to the playoffs?

One week off, and one week of competitive, hard practice.

I liked during training camp that they turned things into a competition within practice. It drove them all to be better. They need to get back to that if they haven't been doing it.

A sports psychologist could really help them get over their woes whatever they may be and allow everyone to play the best they can with nothing getting in the way.

My option isn't listed - maybe a few days off but mostly hard practices. Players that need the rest for injuries can get it, but the team has typically come out flat after longer breaks during the season. I want them to stay at game shape, and practice at game speed. They looked faster against San Jose at most everything they were doing. Not just faster than SJ, but faster than they have been for a while. They need to be able to come out of the break in game shape.

The big problem that hasn't been mentioned much (at all?) is that Ruff will be gone for the entire time. Mental breakdowns have been the biggest factor in their slump, and not having the head coach around to work on these things is a huge disadvantage. I don't even know what rules - if any - are in place about practice time for all the teams, but if possible the assistants should be keeping everyone on hand and at task if they are going to be a better team in March.

Give them a couple days off, then run practice. Have it be normal practice for some, then have some be really intense.

Give off to some players that need it.

couple days off, few light, build up to a week of hell, then go down and end with a couple days off

Player held practices. have the assistant coaches present but have each player come up with a practice. it's a bit of team bonding and enforces keeping people in check. Plus it gives the other players an inside into other positions. like i swam fly and distance in high school, to which i incorporated into my practice regime. though i didn't kill the other teammates, just enough to get them to see what swimming that stroke or length was like.

Might be a great opportunity to let the single players get laid, let the married players tear the wife up.

I think they should go and cheer on their teammates in the Olympics. Until the medal rounds, then come back home, and get to work. Evaluate who is on board and willing to work, and who is dead weight. Then get on the phones, and see what's available.

Athletes cannot play scared and negative, fearful of failure, and we've proven it.

Our guys are head cases and need an adjustment.

let them spend a week or so with their families with some regulations of course. Then ease back into practice for the rest of the time. Start off a little lighter and then gradually get more and more competitive with the practices leading back into the season. I want these guys legs to be as fresh as possible coming back, especially with Washington and the Penguins coming up.

I believe the league has suspended team practices until 2/24, so they're getting most of the time off.

I'm all for captain's practices while the players are banned from team facilities.
