Nine Games Until the Break The boys are limping home from our longest road trip of the season, having picked up only 6 of 14 points. The Sabres have nine more games (a possible 18 points) until the Olympics break. - Home against the Devils (1/27) Sabres Victory, 2-1 (SO) - Home against the Bruins (1/29) Victory, 2-1 - At Pittsburgh (2/1) Sabres Loss, 3-5 - Home against the Sens (2/3) Loss, 2-4 - Home against the ‘Canes (2/5) Loss, 3-4 - At Columbus (2/6) Loss, 0-4 - Home against the Bruins (2/9) OT Loss, 2-3 - At Carolina (2/11) OT loss, 3-4 - Home against the Sharks (2/13) Victory!!! 3-1 Where do you expect the Sabres to be in the standings when the Olympics start? * Out of the top four playoff spots * Second in the Northeast, but still in the top four playoff spots * First in the Northeast division, third in the East * First in the Northeast division, second in the East * First in the Eastern Conference * First overall in the NHL |

I think they'll make a comeback now that they are back from their west coast debacle |

Until they pick up the talent needed to produce a more aggressive forecheck and get back to tight defense, they will most likely continue to drop in the standings, especially with the competition they have to face in these 9 games. I'll call it at 5-4. 10 point pickup, but I think Ottawa, Wash., Pitt. and NJ gain alot of ground on us. There may be some teams like Philly and Boston who push closer to us in the standings. But overall I expect the team to have a firm stand or within reach of the 4th conference spot, if Ottawa comes close but doesn't surpass us then we hold the 3rd conference spot as division leader. |

I picked first in the NE, second in the East. I don't know if there is a gym on the plane, but I suspect Lindy would have them riding them all the way home if there were. This road trip totally blew the wind out of my sails. They have to learn to beat the western teams if they want to win the cup someday. I think they'll come back home and kick some butt. First place in the East would be nice, but I don't think they'll be able to step over the Caps. |

What happened there? That happened over 10 years ago (98-99). The Sens lost 4-0 in the 1st round to the Sabres. The Sabres would go on to the SC Final that season and lose to Brett Hull. In 05-06 the Sens met the Sabres in the 2nd round and lost 4-1. The Sabres went on to lose in the 3rd round to the Hurricanes. In 06-07 the Sens met the Sabres in the 3rd round and won 4-1, eventually losing in the SC Final to the Ducks. So far....I like the Sens chances vs Sabres in the 1st round this year. The seem to play them well as of late (this season) and in 06-07 (last time they met in the PO's) they played them well. I guess only time will tell. |

Amazing sight all those brooms were Nice to see you back SensFan. Rob, I think it was? Always good to talk hockey with opposing fans when they're not trolling. I agree with your assessment about the Sens chances over the Sabres no matter unpopular my opinion may be. Sens have our number in recent years. We are their bitch and fans will never get over the Neil/Drury game. I don't want to play the Sens in the regular season let alone any round in the PO's Hey - did you win that contest a while back? I have a good memory when I want to Welcome back. Glad you found us on these awesome forums. SG |

Yes, a couple of summers ago I was on the Sens board for a while with Montalo under the name ILoveSabretooth. The Sabres board had slowed to near comatose levels and I wanted to talk hockey...and I figured the people in Ottawa talk about hockey in their sleep. I was right. I like talking hockey with other fans as well...in a nice way. Ottawa fans rock! The Sens on the other hand..... |

Looks like we are a little gun shy after the most recent road trip. Eighteen votes in and nobody has picked us to be at the top of the table in the East. Maybe nobody wants to jinx it? |

A long road trip is tough for any team. And to go 2-3-2 during a 7 game west coast trip is pretty good. We play 6 of the next 9 at home and stay on the Eastern coast, except to Columbus. 1st in NE 3rd in the Conference still. |

The Sens shut out NJ tonight, extending their winning streak to seven games and moving within five points of the Sabres. I'm just saying. |

Well, how about that home cookin' to get off the snide? We move within one point of NJ and put another two points between us and the Sens. |
