If Buffalo loses to Ottawa on Wednesday I think Regier is forced to make a move because Ottawa is really starting to close the gap between them and Buffalo for the division. Plus it's in the sabres heads that they can't beat this team. All I can say is if they lose to Ottawa please don't trade for some rental player off Carolina. This team needs someone that is young and is getting better and if your going to make a trade get someone that you can build around for years to come instead of a player that will be gone in a year or two. Regier better be paying alot of attention to his team and the teams in the division because Toronto is starting to rebuild and Burke isn't going to wait around like Darcy to make his team better. Darcy can't afford to sit back like he always does and make a minor roster move. This team isn't as good as people think they are. Yes they are a playoff team but if Miller goes down this team will sink fast! Only reason this team is where they are at this season is because of Miller and Myers. I hate saying that because I love the sabres but I speak the truth.

truth be told, loosing one game doesnt mean that the team is screwed. the sabres team this year is a talented bunch that obviously have some holes to fill like every team in the league. in terms of bringing in the player that you mentioned, someone that is:

young
talented
getting better
can build around

well we have two people that fit the bill on the team now in Miller and Myers, plus several others that are suppose to fit the bill (Vanek, Roy, Pom), plus a few good hands in Portland that might be able to fill some of those roles. To bring in another player like you want would cost us one of the ones that we already have (probably Myers because of Millers contract). speaking of which, what player would you suggest trading for and who would you give up?

as far as Darcy doing or not doing something, i think he has (oddly enough) done a pretty solid job thus far. this team is really just in need of a couple minor roster moves. anything major could screw things up as far as chemistry and atmosphere are concerned.

the illusion that we are supposedly under. i think most, if not all, the people here have a pretty realistic view of the sabres team, where they are, why they are there and how to fix them. it no secret/surprise that Miller is kind of carrying this team right now and that an injury to him would cause the team to fall a bit. it is important to note though that when the team seems to actually try they can be as explosive as any other team.

What do you expect from a "fan" that roots for the team to lose for draft picks?

'but I speak the truth'?

Really? You speak your fucking opinion, that's what you speak. And really, it's not all that good.

You're worried about TORONTO? Are you KIDDING me? They just turned over almost half their active roster for what, 4 guys? They have zero depth in the AHL pipeline, but those less than talented kids are just going to show up and turn the franchise around? Please.

'If Miller goes down this team will sink fast.'

You mean like EVERY OTHER TEAM WITH AN ELITE GOALTENDER? Thank you captain fucking obvious.

I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but this type of shit is really wearing on my nerves.

I think he's onto something guys. Darcy needs to make a strong move and trade for either Getzlaf or Toews. If Darcy plays it right, maybe we could only give up Connolly, Myers, and a 1st round draft pick. Stanley Cup, here we come!!! :?

Darcy can't make a big move based on multiple seasons he's not going to make a move based on one game.

If a trade does take place i wouldn't want just a fucking rental player. One reason why i am a proponent of going after a guy like mike fisher. Shakes this team up a little bit if one of the bigger names get shipped out and brings in a guy who fits our system and will be with us for more than a year. I'd also like to see a guy like doan or horton but i highly doubt that happening.

Would it be awkward if we got Kalinin and Kotalik back and then threw them out on the ice with Kaleta and Grier?

Well lets see! Do you think they can actually beat the Senators, Capitals , Penguins in a seven game series. Highly unlikely! I not saying that this team needs to make an instant move if we lose to Ottawa but the writing would be on the wall that they can't beat Ottawa. Darcy needs to unload some of the garbage and get pieces that will help this team in a seven game series without mortaging the future. One guy that might not be bad to get is Stempniak(from West Seneca so a local guy) off Toronto but it would have to be in a three way trade with them. This team is capable of making playoffs and that's it and if anyone thinks this team is good enough to make the cup with this current roster you will need your head examined. Difference between this years team and the last two years is that they have been winning alot more 1 goal games than in the past because of Miller. I'm not trying to start shit here but it would be nice for Darcy to earn that paycheck of his and maybe dump the trash and bring in a guy or two that can help this team!

The problem with your idea is that other GMs aren't going to trade their good players for Buffalo's bad players. Forget about any significant player moves from inside the division, that just won't happen. For the rest of the league, trades will have to be balanced not just by talent, but by cap hit. Finding a fair trade that helps both teams these days is like solving a Rubix Cube.

Buffalo doesn't have many tradeable assets that will get a return that fills a big hole. Vanek and Pominville have contracts that greatly reduce their value and tradeability. The better talent-to-cap players are ones that we probably shouldn't trade away in the first place. What we have are a few young players and prospects that could get a 2nd tier player to fill a need, nothing more. Any blockbuster deal that brings in a big time talent will also ship out a few players that the team needs, so it's pretty unrealistic to want or expect that to happen.

I think that it might not be a bad idea to see what could be had for a Hecht-Tallinder package since both are playing fairly well right now. Though I don't know how willing you are to break up Tallinger/Myers at this point.

if you were darcy, what would you do? who would you bring in and who would ship to make it happen?

for a seven game series, i do think that if Buffalo didnt fuck around they could beat Pittsburgh, and Ottawa. it was Buffalos dumb ass play that cost them against Pittsburgh a couple days ago and since when is Ottawa an Elite team in the east? they're on a hot streak now. relax it will all be ok.

Highly unlikely?!?

Dude, have you watched the Sabres play this year?? Yea, we haven't played well against the Sens so far this year but I would go as far as to say it's highly unlikely for them to beat them in a 7 game series... I would put 50-50 $ on them beating eigther team in a 7 game series..
