I just find it amazing the types of comments coming from our own forumers after Myers was injured last night. No i'm not here to bash anyone, i'm here because it's mostly comments like "if Myers is gone, that would be horrible as he's our best defensemen... This says a lot about our defense if a ROOKIE is our BEST DEFENSEMAN. I know he's got this extreme talent, but you'd hope that you have a veteran or two thats better than a rookie. Also, IDK about this "growing balls" stuff you all talked about last night either. We still lost. IDC how balls work, but when I think of growing balls i'm thinking of finishing your checks like Kaleta does on a persistent basis, and ALSO defending teammates. Not one or the other. It was saddening seeing Tallinder get sat down without someone going back for repayment. I want this team to REALLY grow balls. A better veteran D-man would be a good treat too. |

I don't think it says THAT much. Sidney Crosby was the best player on the Penguins in his first season. Myers is just a fucking beast. End of story. |

Myers is the exception to every conventional rule of thumb. He's simply The One. Obviously I agree with the "balls" portion of your comments. I'm probably the leading activist for toughening this soft team up. |

No BS, but Myers is officially a top ten D man in this league ALREADY. Plenty of eveidence to back this up. Rookie means zero. His talent and play on the ice proves that he is our best defenseman and thats nothing for the other D men to be ashamed of. Myers is a once in a decade talent that we amazingly lucky to have landed at 12 overall. If your not as good as Crosby, it doesn't mean your a bad center. If your not as good as Myers, doesnt mean your a bad D man.....period. |

Myers is a beast, his only downside that I can see is apparently he's 4th in giveaways in the league... if he can clean that up though. Cha-ching! |

Oh, of course, I'm sure it's a bit off considering: a) He's still a rookie, as much as his talent surpasses that of the average rookie. b) He plays a ton of minutes. and c) He's on a team where I would think a lot of players probably have this problem. But it's probably his biggest area to work on, and that's saying a lot about his talent and level of play for a 20 year old in his first year. |

Not sure, but I pointed this out last year when I was discussing Afinogenov with someone. They cited total giveaways and said Derek Roy was worse than Afinogenov because he had more. I told him to find out how many giveaways per minute of ice time each of them surrendered, and he found it, and the results showed I was right. |

Purely looking at statistics, Butler has about half of the giveaways Myers does and is 135th in the league... and is 2nd on the team for time on ice per game. I guess it's just a bit easier to overlook a few gaffes from Myers when he's also leading the team in blocked shots by a huge margin, is our best D offensively by a mile and the myriad of other things he does right. Also that it's his first year lol. |

Wow a rookie with a lot of turnovers, who thought we'd see the day eh. Its a learning year. Anyone wanna know how many turnovers Myers had his first year in Kelowna? Just double whatever he has now and you'll have your answer. |

Plus, if you've seen every game, you've seen that after those Myer's giveaways, it rarely turns into a goal.. And a lot of those don't turn into a goal cause Myers get's pissed that he makes a mistake and turns on the Defense.. |

He is well ahead of the learning curve for talented young defenseman. He isn't perfect; but he will improve over the next several seasons. I don't need stats to validate his ability, or his flaws. He's very good, and only going to improve. This works for me. As for the rest of our defensemen; not so much. |

Myers handles the puck up ice much more than Butler or any other d-man. All that puck time is jacking up his TOs as well. As another poster stated, his TOs aren't the bonehead type that give up huge scoring chances the other way. With his stride and reach he can fairly well recover from those mistakes anyway. |

If I remember right, the hit on Tallinder wasn't particularly hard and it was legal. There's sticking up for your guy, and then there's taking a dumb penalty. Unless we're thinking of two different incidents? |
