Do you expect him to make a minor tweak, a modest swap, a multiplayer swing, or a multi-team trifecta?

Do you think the moves he make will wind up being more beneficial for now, or later next season?

Something fun to think about now that the olympics are over.

Darcy will be Darcy... Some tweaks here and there that won't be huge, but ulitmately they will be smart moves that will benefit the team.

Darcy get one rentaplayer...Darcy always get one rentaplayer...Darcy programmed to get only one rentaplayer.

One. Not two. One.

I selected two out of optimism. One is a more realistic answer though. :)

Now that the olympics are over, I get to annoy you all with my optimism. :D

I chose 3. I think he has a unique opportunity to do more at this deadline because it's not superstar players being swapped this year for the most part.

I have a strange feeling about this one.

Do you think they are going to address the goaltending situation?

I'd be surprised. I'm not sure any team would take Lalime in a trade, and they're not likely to waive and eat salary, so I'm thinking Patty is going to stay.

We'll see. Sometimes, unique opportunities present themselves for this situation.

Most likely, if Lalime loses games, and Miller is tired, we'll see Enroth up.

Time will tell, but Lalime is also a free agent this summer, so they're almost out of it anyway.

That could also be appealing to a club looking to clear cap space.

One trade and it better be for Biron and not for a guy like Moore.

I honestly think the trade for Moore was used as a way for the club to save money, and to give the guy a try out.

Darcy didn't expect anything big. He just wanted to make sure he got a free agent so he could go after Mike Grier over the summer.

I believe Darcy will make 4 moves, here is a list of the Sabres players from the roster I see moving, but the moves may be a mix of roster players, prospects or picks.

1. Move Lydman
2. Move Tallinder
3. Move MacArthur
4. Move Stafford

Make a trade for a backup, and make a trade for decent 2-way player.

Two moves.

Lydman will be moved for a draft pick. Sekera will see more ice time in his place. Weber will be brought up also as a way for Darcy to see what he's working with, and help determine how much he needs to address the d-corps through FA in the summer.

MacArthur and picks/prospects will be traded for a bigger name forward that is either under contract for a while or can be signed to an extention as part of the deal (Horton or Whitney). Paetsch may see more ice time filling in between d and forward.

In the summer Tallinder will walk with Mair, Paetsch, and Lalime. Grier and Ellis are 50/50. Darcy will need to sign a FA d-man, maybe two depending on what Weber looks like, and a back-up goalie for one year until Enroth is ready. The forward openings will be filled with prospects or a minor FA signing.

One way or another Darcy will not take a big swing for this post season. Next year is when the team will be better positioned for playoff success. Darcy won't trade players or prospects that he'll want on the team over the next 2-3 seasons.

I say three at least.

But some teams do trade away a player and then just waive the player once they get him. It does happen, but I doubt Lalime goes anywhere, and if we trade for Biron, you'll see Lalime waived and sent down to Portland.

I wouldn't mind picking up ray whitney but i think he is going to ask for two much money for his age, especially when we might have a chance to sign Stempniak in the off season. I'd love to see horton traded for. Wouldn't mind seeing lydman or tallinder traded for picks. Tallinder probably has a higher value. Sekera looked a little soft in the olympics. I'm not going to be a moron like millbury (how he was able to broadcast today i don't know) but i wouldn't mind if sekera was tried as trade bait.

I agree move all 4 but any sabres prospect can be had except Ennis, Adam, Weber, Enroth, Crawford and Kassian. I know it's going to be tough to lose Lydman and Tallinder but you have to unload these guys for something rather than losing them for nothing.
