I like his game. There were a couple of minor mistakes that will be corrected when he learns our game a little more, but he's very physical, he gets his nose dirty, he's good at making quick passes, and he keeps things simple.

Good first game, in my opinion.

How about you?

Meh, I'll try and keep it up beat for ya.
He was agressive enough, he likes to hit and dig in the corners.
He assisted on Connolly's goal, thats an improvement over 2/3'rds of the team.
But what most impressed me, atleast in this game, we finally have a guy that's not afraid to come to a team mates side during hostilies. He jumped right up in there when Kaleta was eyeball to eyeball in the Philly zone.

Now thats a player I smile about.

Slesh is right. There were two or three scrums where he was the second Sabre to get in there.

Hopefully he keeps that up.

I liked that on multiple occasions he went right to the crease and parked himself there to cause a ruckus.

That's always OK in my book. :)

Take a couple of games for him to mesh...

I'm not sold either way. He didn't drop trou and lay a turd, but he didn't have much of an impact either.

His bug-eyes are starting to freak me out though.

I said no, just because I'll be more impressed when he does this on a consistent basis. One game means nothing in the context of a season.

If we're judging him on one game, then I thought he played a fairly rounded game. If he can bring this, maybe more once he starts to fit in, then he will earn more praise from me.

For his very first game, I liked him. He worked hard, went right to the net and got some good chances out of it. Made some errors here or there but those will be smoothed out in the next few games. I liked his work ethic and determination, and he seemed to already be part way into the system with the nice puck support for Sekera on what developed into the GWG. Overall, a good first game with a lot of good signs.

You guys are reading into this too much. The poll question is, "Did you like Raffi Torres' first game as a Sabre?" Not, "OMGZ IS RAFFI TORRES GOING TO BE A GOOD PLAYER ON THIS TEAM?!!"

Just one game. Rate his first impression. lol

First impressions generally refer to one game and not the context of a season

The wife asked me if you guys had posted any picks, when I showed her, she asked me who was putting the squeeze on his neck :D

I will give the guy some games before I make a comment. It's not like he's a first line player. Just to get off the topic I'm not really impressed with Kennedy that much at all. But he's still a rookie and you have to give these guys time to adjust.

Wish he's kept playing with Roy and Pommers because their first shift was amazing.

Still, I liked him a lot.

No. I saw him in person, he did nothing, didnt handle the puck well, never threw any hits, and definitely looked lost. My 2 cents

Television is a much more effective way of seeing a guy play.

i liked his game. i heard his name alot, and that means he was somewhat effective. then he assisted on the game winning goal.

he played hard, and played effectively. no, he didnt get a hattrick, and hes not going to get 80 points this season. fine by me. the sabres are 1-0 with him in the line up, and i think he was part of the reason.
