Per Sabres Edge...no surprise on Weber, he did not have a great preseason at all. Gerbe going down probably means Kennedy staying up.

Well, I for one am pleased. I think despite netting a couple goals Gerbe was clearly still behind Kennedy in development, but it was nice to see him finally show SOMETHING at the NHL level at least. I think he'll be back up soon enough because the injury bug is inevitable, but a little extra time down in Portland should be perfect to get him ready for the permanent leap next season.

Weber, well, he'll be in some competition with Brennan to make the roster. He needs to show he can excel in Portland without injury or hesitation before he'll be called upon again.

I really hope the last two games of the preseason was a sign of things to come for Gerbe. I was worried he wouldn't be able to adjust to the NHL level, but it seems that with a little more seasoning, he'll be ready.

Hey, slighty OT, did Dominic Moore ever find a team? I've heard nothing.

He's still a UFA.

Pro job by his agent trying to get him $2.5m per.

I think it'll be good for Gerbe. He said earlier how he doesn't want to get sent back down, but now he's going down to Portland with new found confidence which will help his drive. We'll be seeing more of him this season. I just hope Weber doesn't get too discouraged because I know he really wants this year to be "his" year.

weber will get his chance. lydman and tallinder will more than likely be gone after this year. hopefully tallinder is not re-signed. and if hecht does what we all expect him to do and suck, we might see gerbe sooner than later. this gives him a chance to play with ennis and byron and show them the ropes a little bit of being a smaller player in the AHL. If he can become more of that leader than that is another thing he can add to his resume when he is called on to come up the NHL. (that is how i'd take the situation, an opportunity to mentor the kids and become a better well rounded player, the sabres need those player to hold others accountable even if he is only 5'5").

Looks like it could be this:

Vanek-Connolly-Roy
MacArthur-Kennedy-Pominville
Hecht-Gaustad-Grier
Paille-Ellis-Kaleta

Stafford out with concussion.

Me likey.

nice lines except for the hecht part. any word on the d- lines. i mean i'm pretty sure butler - Rivet and lets hope tallinder is not with myers. we don't need the drag to pull down our rookie stud.

I think that's what the forward lines will be unless Stafford plays. As far as the D goes, it will be split up by righty-lefty pairings. Some combination of...

L--------------------R
Butler------------ Rivet
Sekera-----------Montador
Lydman----------Myers

Tallinder or Paetsch would replace Lydman if he can't play.

So, if Kennedy plays at too high of a level to bench or demote, who sits and/or gets demoted? I think the Sabres would likely send Ellis down, much as that pains me, because he would almost certainly clear waivers while Paille would get gobbled up. We all know that piece of Hecht is Portland proof due to his salary, but he could find himself on the bench as a healthy scratch if he starts off slow.

On defense, Tallinder is on the bench for the foreseeable future barring injuries or shockingly bad play from a regular.

I can't wait until Gerbe gets called up later this season. He's going to play like a fucking mad man.

Honestly though, Kennedy looks fucking unreal. Myers will only get better.

Very, VERY excited for Saturday.
