I don't see how anyone can honestly answer that question and come up with a different result for #1

But indeed. Buffalo most certainly should be #1 on that list.

Ya, whats up with this statement? I have never heard any indication outside of fan speculation that Tommy was going to sell the team or that he just isn't interested.

I think Tommy wants to see not just one, but a few Stanley Cups here while he is the owner, he can thump his chest and say "Success". If I owned the team I would definitely feel this way, plus, I would call the Capitals and Penguins owner on a conference call and tell them to take that Buffalo shit pie, stick in your pipe and smoke it. :D

I think it's close, Buffalo deserves one, but so many other teams deserve one.

Basically the teams that deserve them the most, or city, should be the teams that do not have one in their existence.

Can't think of a more deserving city than Buffalo. When it comes down to how loyal we are to our sports teams, the sense of community we all have, and the turmoil (both sports and non-sports related) we've faced over the years... Don't really think any other city can compare.

No.
A lot of those cities still don't deserve it.

Haven't won a cup and the city deserves it:
Buffalo
Ottawa (no I'm not going to include that ancient incarnation of the Senators)
San Jose
St.Louis
Vancouver
and maybe Washington

Haven't won a cup and don't deserve to:
Atlanta
Columbus
Florida
Los Angeles
Minnesota
Nashville
Phoenix

gee, that second list looks a lot like a list of teams that shouldn't even exist.

Lets restate it, if the team has been in existence for over 30 years and doesn't have one, they most deserve one.

LA still doesn't deserve a cup...they're older than the Sabres ;)
Hockey is such an afterthought in this town no one would care.

Woah, I think Minneapolis is certainly deserving of a Cup. They LOVE hockey in the entire state, and had to go through the turmoil of losing their team and then seeing it win in another city.

No, Detroit deserves to miss the playoffs a couple times.

OK, I'll agree the *city* is deserving, but their current team is definitely not.

Wait why are you bringing up Detroit? The Red Wings alone have like 10 Cups.

He was saying Detroit is like Buffalo in terms of how the city acts, not in deserving championships.

When your city has a sports team with nearly a dozen Championships, the argument can't be made that it is more deserving or just as deserving than a city like Buffalo. Cleveland? Okay I guess you can make that argument...but some of its teams have still won championships at one point.

Besides, we are talking about the Stanley Cup...not what city is most deserving of ANY sports championship (although Buffalo would still be on the top of that list, in my opinion).

Are they talking about fans or the players?

Fans, I'd agree. Players? Maybe next year, guys.
