Am I the only getting fed up with Chris Butler? I know guys go through rough patches (Montador, Lydman, and Myers all did), but Butler has just sucked all year. He's constantly getting outworked or out-muscled for every loose puck and when he gets the puck, it is a turnover nine times out of ten. I cannot honestly say I've seen one stretch where this guy as made good plays consistently. I don't think he's even had a a period of two shifts when he has made good plays consistently. At least Sekera can make a smart play more times than not. Once Rivet recovers from the flu, I never want to see Butler on the ice again.

Thoughts?

Agreed, with Sekara's skating ability and offensive skill, he is at least showing that he has an upside. Butler is not. Still, I don't want to sell the farm on the guy just yet.

Sekera has had periods of really solid play, plus he always seems to have a positive attitude, regardless of if he's on the ice or in the press box. He has the right mind frame to play, and I can tell he's trying to make the right play most of the time. He was playing really well coming out of the Olympics. I think having him play in the playoffs every game could give him that same kind of confidence boost.

Sekara has also shown a bit of a physical side to him in recent games. He's laid down a hit or two.

It's been sad to see Butler go so far backwards. He was so good last year after his callup...

Garbage Player, throw him on the scrap heap and move along. I cringe and cover my eyes every time he steps on the ice. And for good reason too. Last nights game is just a de je vu moment from throughout the season.

Well whatever happens, I never ever ever want to see butler and sekera on the ice at the same damn time again.

Well sophomore slump or something.

Can't just cut him loose just yet, if he doesn't rebound next year you throw him under the bus, he's still to young to just cut loose.

And if he rebounds next year, it'll be just like Hecht's rebound too, or Tallinder.

I don't want to see Rivet back, either. 9 times out of 10, it's him giving away the puck for the goal.

Well, Gragnani it is then. Isn't Butler still on a two-way contract?

Butler would have to clear waivers since he has played in more than 120(?) games.

Just because you're on a two-way contract doesn't mean you get an easy pass straight the to AHL.

It's either 100 games or 120, or 3 or 4 years since you signed your first contract? I don't remember off hand right now.

Is Weber still concussed? He had ridiculously good chemistry with Sekera at the end of last season.

Weber is not only healthy, but he's also having a stellar season. For a stay-at-home bruising blueliner, he's got 5+16 with +19 and 149 PIMS.

I almost peg Weber as a lock for the roster next season, barring a HORRIBLE camp.

didnt wideman get the GWG against us the last game? i know he scored i just dont remember when. either way at least he made up for some of his dumb mistakes by scoring. butler never makes up for his blunders. both sekera and butler have taken steps back. i cant wait to see what weber can do next year. he is having a great season in portland from what i hear and he looked solid when playing for us last year on a call up.

I remember reading the same comments last year about Reggie. Play sekera come playoffs and watch Chris bounce back next year.

He's having a pretty horrible year, yeah. Hoping it's a sophomore slump. I think he'll come back strong next year.
