Horrible for 57 minutes, out of position blah blah blah.

Last night, the Sabres took a desperate team fighting for prime playoff position, and turned their world upside down with two goals in the last 3 minutes to send the game to overtime and win in a shootout.

This says a lot to me, especially this time of year.

We weren't TERRIBLE throughout the whole game. Price made some pretty unreal saves, but they didn't get frustrated. They stuck with it, got their hands dirty, and kept driving and driving and driving to the goal until they finally got the rebound chance they needed.

It's just nice to see them get this kind of win; to never throw in the towel. They'll need a couple like these in the playoffs if they're going to do any damage, because they're not going to start with a lead on teams every game, no matter how hard they come out to play.

Lets make it five in a row tomorrow night.

Geez, honestly I feel like i've seen the sabres achieve every 'type' of win possible this year. Some blowouts, some come from behinds, some 1-0 games, etc etc. They've shown they can win when they put their fucking balls into it. (thats a new phrase i'm trying out)

PUT YOUR BALLS INTO IT!

Well, you don't get 42 shots (leading in shots throughout most of the game as well) and only have 2 go in unless you're facing a pretty hot goalie. Call them lousy shots, bad angles, what have you. In order to get those shots, you have to have at least a little handle on the flow of play... and even bad shots and bad angles can find their way in. So I'm on board in not calling it a TERRIBLE effort, but there's really no excuse they couldn't play like they did in the last 3 minutes right from the start, or at least intermittently throughout the game. Those 3 minute lapses at the end of the game won't normally happen against better teams and certainly not very often in the playoffs.

That said, take that Habs! ;) I would've loved to see how disappointed those fans were leaving HSBC last night, and I hope we can make some unfortunate fans feel that way over the next few weeks!

I like your new phrase! Thats exactly what the Sabs did last night.

Imagine if they had played like they did in the last 2 minutes for the duration of the whole game? The score would have been a lot higher in our favor.

Funny how fast the game changes... It went from one of the more frustrating games to be at, to being one of the more thrilling games to be at. It was awesome to finally see the Habs fans upset, after they were jubilant and cocky for the previous 58 minutes of the game. Sweet, sweet victory. :D

You should check out last night's GDT.. Everyone goes from everyone thinking this team is nothing better than a pile of shit to a truely great and clutch team in a couple minutes..

Just because we had a comeback in the last 2 min of the game doesn't make our team great, and also being down 2-0 in the 1st 2 periods of a game doesn't make our team shitty and uninspired.. Probably why I don't go in the GDT's much.. Everyone is too extreme and bipolar..

Noooo, everyone thought the win was dirty as hell and just glad to get out of there with a point, let alone two.

yea your right.. But everyone was extremely down on our team before those goals though..

On a side note, good to see us actually win after a bad start (58 min start lol)

Yeah, we either need to cut down on the defensive lapses and stupid penalties

OR

actually be able to punish the other team when they break down defensively and commit stupid penalties. Because right now we cannot.

We suck dude, last night's win was a fluke. Carey Price decided to give up those last two goals to make the game more entertaining to the Sabres fans.

This game reminded me of a game between the same two teams in Buffalo at the end of the season two years ago, only the situation was reversed. Buffalo had total control of the game until the last five minutes and the Habs roared back to tie and win it in overtime. That loss was one of the final nails in Buffalo's coffin as far as the playoffs were concerned.

Fast forward two years and this time it's the Sabres leading the division and riding the hot goalie. It's Buffalo who someone snuck out with the win in a game they had no right even being close in. Sure feels nice being on the other side of the table.
