With all this talk about Ennis not possibly being able to produce as much at the NHL level as he has at lesser levels, let me point this out about our dear Myers:

2008-2009 Kelowna Rockets >WHL G 9 A 33 PTS 42
2009-2010 Sabres G 11 A 34 PTS 45

Well I would have to say he is worse off since he put up a better PPG average in that year then he has now, but he is also playing in a much higher level of play, so putting up 45 points is amazing, especially in the NHL coming straight from Juniors.

I bet he'd be a PPG in juniors if he had stayed one more year.

Congrats to Myers for sure, he is an all-star defensemen in the making. Can't wait until he brings home a Norris trophy for Buffalo.

There's no way he doesn't win the Calder Trophy. If he doesn't win, there is something seriously wrong with the bias that NHL has in it's reporters...

I left out games played on purpose because I feel if the Kelowna Rockets had to travel NHL-esque distances, he'd have produced far less.

Really it's going to come down to Duchene, Myers, and Howard.

Most of the votes will probably go to Duchene and Myers, just because the team Howard is on is still a very damn good team, especially it's now with them all healthy.

Also if you can put up the same number of points in Juniors as you can in the NHL just making the jump, then you're good, no questions asked. Unless you put up like 300 or something because that is impossible in the NHL, but a 3rd of that isn't.

For anyone that doesn't follow my logic, sure Myers put up three less points in 15 or so less games, but if the travel within the WHL was comparable in distance to the NHL, he'd have put up less points for sure.

Yea, but he's in the NHL now, if you are a defensemen who can put up the same amount of points from Juniors to the NHL without any AHL training, something in that kid is working right.

Myers is the real deal for us. He is a Future Norris winner, and he might be a 60+ point guy in his career also.

He plays both ways of the ice fine, his long reach makes him almost impossible to beat one-on-one and with his long stride makes him one of the fastest to race the puck down the ice.

Imagine if the PP wasn't such a clusterfuck this season. He'd easily have an extra ten points.

Phil you should try and find out what his stats were coming back from the WJC. Include the last 30 or so regular season games, the WHL playoff and Memorial Cup games and his games as a Buffalo Sabre.

On it, then I'm going to bed. At least, I'll try.

Sooo...I found the exact stats (points scored after WJC and during the Chynoweth Cup Playoffs). Guess where I found it - one of my old posts in the Tyler Myers Official Progress Thread!

So, this is what Myers scored during the regular season: G 9 A 33 PTS 42. Of that, 22 pts (I don't know how it breaks down) came after the WJC. If you factor in his playoff MVP performance, he had - get this - 41 points in 49 games and was a +36 after the WJC.

The sky is the limit!! That is so cliche but when talking about Myers, it's very true.. He could be one of the best defensemen ever to play the game.. Not saying that he will be, but people had tremendous expectations after last year and he's blowing those expectations out of the water already..

As the guys on Versus said on Monday, I can't wait to see him in 10 years..

Just thinking he's so far from his prime and he'll be improving each year just blows my mind.. Just thinking of it makes me want to change my sabresjunkie SN.. (MyersMania?)

My numbers were wrong...stats should be 42 pts in 51 games and +36.

And don't talk about Howard's age, or you'll make Mike all butt-hurt over it. ;)

Fuck his age - how about the call-ups he's had over, oh I don't know, something like the LAST 4 YEARS!? He has NHL experience - and not just a little.

Mike's overly sensitive about his goalie parts ;)
