This probably goes in a different section, but Puck Daddy blog has a nice interview with Max up now. I must say, Max seems like a pretty classy guy.

I wouldn't call it a resurrection.

He's getting top minutes on a 3rd tier team, still posting horrible +/- numbers, missing the playoffs, and coasting into the offseason as a UFA... again.

Oh, and he doesn't like beer, and he won't talk about his relationship with his super hot girlfriend.

Lame.

Agreed.... credit other "Russians" there for his success and also blames the coaching and says their more "attack ordinated". They had one of the best snipers in the last decade on their team for most of the team and they've scored 8 more goals then Buffalo. I wouldn't say Buffalo attacks less, but a, SMARTER coached team.

Wow, that's some "resurrection." LOL.

Max is only playing the way he is for one reason: trying to get the big long-term deal. And as soon as ATL effs up and gives it to him, he'll become the floater-who-can't-finish that we Sabres fans have come to know and love . . .

We were a third tier team the last 2 seasons and he didn't post those numbers. To me it'd be MORE difficult to improve your stats on a crap team with big minutes than on a good one with mediocre minutes anyways. Lets call it the Lee Stempniak theory.
It's a resurrection for his standards

Offensive numbers are higher on a team that doesn't play defense? Who'd have thunk that?

I don't hate on the guy, and I wish him all the luck in the world. Just glad he's not on this team anymore.

Amen to that.

ATL with Max and Antropov is just like TB {with Lecavalier, St. Louis, and Richards}, OTT {with Alfredsson, Spezza, and Heatley}, and PIT {with Malkin and Crosby} were for years, until TB and OTT let Richards and Heatley walk and all three acquired some D and some two way players -- exciting teams that played wide-open with no defensive responsibilities.

If they want to continue doing that, fine by me -- 'cause, while that style may sell a lot of tickets and jerseys, it'll also result in the same thing that happened in TB, OTT, and PIT for a long time: a first or second round exit {IF they make it.}

And, I can't wait to see much LOOOVE there is for Max the first time he gets sent to the press box for a game or three and starts pouting publicly . . .

Funny thing is, it doesn't sell tons of tickets in Atlanta :lol:

Just sell the team and move on. If Portland, Oregon were the city to snag a struggling Southern team, I'd consider it a huge success for the league. Portland could be a real decent hockey town (already is, what with the Winter Hawks being there).
