Ennis, Connolly and Pominville were ok carrying the puck in and getting some transition chances, but could not sustain puck possession down low. No surpise there but they still impressed with the other chances they produced. Pominville missed one or two good opportunities though.

Kennedy, Roy and Vanek were farking unreal. They were all over the ice, hounding the puck, getting turnovers and quality chances. They got a little too fancy once or twice, but damn that was the best I've seen that line. Vanek must be eating spinach every morning, because he's been a BEAST.

Mair, Gaustad and Grier were good down the stretch. Grier made several great hustle plays to run the clock down and then draw that last penalty.

Torres, Ellis and Kaleta got physical and had that great mix up in the 1st period. They stood up for themselves and still ended up with a PP afterward.

Myers was very good. Boston tried to press him and fluster him, but he mostly seemed to bait them and skate around and up ice. The rest of the d-corps had a very good game, and I really liked Sekera. He had some great efforts out there on both ends. Real happy for Rivet of course with that laser shot for the game-winner.

Miller was about right on, but allowed some puff ball rebounds. Fortunately the d-corps kept everyone boxed out from the crease so well that the rebounds didn't matter.

The PP had some good chances but also panicked with the puck a few times (Pominville). The PK was good after the Recchi goal, and it looked like Boston set up their PP differently with three high men. It opened up the ice a little but Buffalo seemed to adjust quickly.

The game could've easily gone the other way with one bounce, but I fail to find any reason that Boston deserved to win. They couldn't generate enough quality chances (again, great job by Buffalo's d-men) even when they were dominating the play in the 2nd period.

Players of the game to me were Vanek and Roy, with a lot of great efforts from at least six other players.

They were lucky to get the 2 points.

Funniest moments:

--when Lucic had Lydman down on the ice it literally looked like some big kid had some little kid on the playground down on the ground.

--when Rivet scored, nobdoy looked more surprised than HE did!

I LOVED when Rivet scored. He looked SO happy! It was a beautiful laser of a shot!

Sabres played good in the first and third and were badly outplayed in the 2nd but luckily Rivet had a blast that went in. It looked like Kaleta was in front of Rask and he didn't see shit. Sabres just need to keep driving to the net hard and get a body in front of any goalie they face. All in all good game by Buffalo but more importantly the win.
