He got big time respect for coming back after taking that hit last night, and this interview just solidifies that respect. :D

"Eh... had some blood coming out of the nose..."

That just made me laugh. And I love how the reporter from YNN is practically rubbing his face with the mic at :56 seconds.

Reminds me of when Tom Green used to put poop on the end of a mic and interview people with it.

Boychuk gets decked by Myers and whines.

Ellis gets blown up by Boychuk and jokes about it.

Who's tougher?

I thought Girlchuk embellished a bit when he was hit by Myers too.

So, after one game people now love Ellis? Where was the love all season?
And does this affect whether or not you want to keep him?

I've liked him all season. I think we should keep him, dude is pretty good down low on the forecheck.

I think everyone has always recognized his utter heart, hustle, toughness, and effectiveness as a role player on this team, but he's not really a goal scorer, and we mostly focus our attention on those players who 'win the games' for us. Although I cannot count how many times i've heard people say "If the rest of the team had his heart and work ethic this team would be unbeatable", which I totally agree with.

See, people who are dirty and like to hit to injure instead of breaking up a play don't like to be hit. They want to be the hitter, not the hit.

Hahahaha...had to. Great attitude man. No whining, just plain old "yup I got my block taken off but it was my fault"

I don't know if I've ever mentioned here how much I love Ellis, anyway, I do!

He seems like a gentleman and a great guy. To bad he doesn't have the skill because the hustle and the hockey sense is there.

I want him with the Sabres next year, but at the same time I want our roster to be better and it's not like he brings any talent to the line-up, anyway...

You can't have a team full of playmakers, snipers and skill guys. You need some fourth and third line grinders, checkers and hustle guys. Elllis is one of those guys.

Or as I like to call it, the "why the penguins power play sucks" theorem.

Can we put Ellis and Kennedy on a PP unit with Connolly? That way Ellis and Timmah K can dig pucks out down low and Timmah C. can create space along the boards?

Yeah, totally. But I believe most grinders are even more talented than Ellis and they fight more, you see? Kaleta, Mair, Goose, Grier and Torres can put the puck in the net sometimes and fight(maybe not Torres...) but Ellis seems to stay on the team probably just because Lindy loves his effort because he clearly doesn't have NHL skills.

Anyway, I don't know why I'm arguing against my 3rd favorite player on the team who makes the minimum salary.

Ellis is one of our better players at maintaining puck possession in the offensive zone, maintaining the cycle, applying pressure on the forecheck, backchecking and positioning himself in the defensive zone. He is talented and has some very vital skill sets, but they're subtle and don't show up on the scoreboard.

I don't know why Lindy doesn't give this guy penalty killing time to be honest. He's shown himself as more than capable.
